If we're now going to completely ignore the Big 10, what does that bring the big game records down to? I'm not ignoring anything, but if we're only talking BCS games here then Florida's loss to Michigan (and LSU's loss to Iowa a few years earlier) in the Capital One bowl is irrelevant to the discussion.

There are so many discussions going on in this thread that they've bled into one another.

Some peeps were saying SC's recent bowl record is not all that because they play Big 10 opponents every year in Pasadena (meaning basically at home). I pointed out that we don't and that UF lost to a Big 10 opponent in Miami. I don't think anyone brought up the LSU-Iowa game. Then Tubu mentioned SC's "big game record", which obviously meant BCS games, as those are the only bowls now that are considered "big game". And it just so happens that the passed 7 bowl games SC has played in are BCS games.

I'm not saying ignore the Big 10, I'm just saying that if y'all want to discredit SC's bowl wins over the Big 10 because the Big 10 sucks, then you have to discredit the SEC's wins over the Big 10 too. My head hurts.

Exactly. If OU is so terrible then why did LSU only win by 1 TD in New Orleans?

LSU's Saban/Jimbo offense was underwhelming that entire year, the defense carried the team.

I havent read this whole thread, but I hope to god nobody is spouting off that OU was manhandled or just way too slow b/c they are not SEC. That was a tight game last night that couldve gone either way.

I don't think you can take away from any of them. A win is a win, and a loss is a loss. The thing to point out is that LSU and Florida were playing the Big 10 #1 while USC was playing the Big 10 #2 in both of those seasons, respectively. It might not make a huge difference, but it is a difference that needs to be considered when making these kinds of comparisons.

UF could have scored again if they didn't take a knee at the end.

Dude, it was a good win for UF but the score was tied in the 4th quarter. Come on, don't act like this was a non-contest.

I bet Mark Richt and Kevin Higgins might disagree with ya there.

I not discrediting USC, they are a great team. You are the one that brought up LSU winning by only a TD and UF only by 10.

Anyone listening to Cowherd?
I heard him say SC was the best team in the country about 97 times. After saying they didn't deserve to be in the ncg all friggin' year. Dude changes his mind more often than my girlfriend.

and therein lies the problem with football fans. it is quite possible to have the most talent, ie. the best team...and still not deserve to be in the national championship game. thank god, you have to play your way in. usc...in spite of all their 3-deep monster talent, media largess, cool uni's, gorgeous cheerleaders, la-la land cal/surf image and incessant whining and politicing from their integrity challenged coach has failed to grasp that concept. you can't lose to 40 pt underdogs like stanford and let yourself get pushed around by oregonst and expect the polls not to notice. the trojans with their locked in w's over weak big11 teams in the 'grandaddy' are just a case of too little...too late. JMHO.

Mark richt had it coming after the game last year and the talk this year. As for Higgins, the Citadel should have never been on the schedule. I don't like Urban Meyer either but he did pull the starters out at the half.
