It's a bucket list for me. Would love LSU to schedule a home and away with them.

Hate PSU but they rock that.
There are enough LSU fans who are just too cool to participate, blathering in about gimmicks etc.

a PSU white out should put to rest the ridiculous notion that shakers make it less loud

Not personally but my nephew was there this weekend on a visit (academic, not athletic). Can’t wait to hear his report on the weekend/game.

I'd love to go. LSU or no LSU.

I've been to three games at Penn State, including one white out. Quite a spectacle. A very long, scripted opening designed to generate a ton of noise. Student section is huge. Like LSU, the atmosphere is a letter grade better at night.

My son went to the white out vs Ohio State last year. Commented that it's a miserably long and rural drive from Pittsburgh. But plenty alcohol flowed and he says it was an SEC like atmosphere.

I understand that Penn State has one helluva petroleum engineering college. Only LSU may have a better one, but Penn State had theirs first.

Hope your nephew finds the school that is right for him and makes him wealthy in every aspect of life!

my coworker went to Penn State for Petroleum Engineering. Damn fine program and I’d say it’s better than LSU

It’s always been a bucket list item for me. I don’t want to attend as a LSU fan though. Would rather go when they are playing a team that I hate. Like a Michigan... Would like to find a penn state fan and do a swap. They could host me for a white out and I can bring them down to a big night game in Tiger stadium.

I have no doubt that it's among the best, but they never had a professor there like Murray Hawkins at LSU. Of course, I don't mean to slam Penn State's program. They are definitely top tier. But I wouldn't snub LSU's PE Department either.

On my bucket list as well, along with Ohio State v Michigan at OSU and a day game at Notre Dame. Those games were big deals when I was a kid. Plus Rudy.

The Penn State white out was weird. Penn St wore dark jerseys and Michigan was dressed in all white with Michigan helmets.

Yep, he’s going into a dual major engineering/Chinese. I think a couple SEC schools offer it (UK, Ole Ms and UGA) and he plans to visit them as well. Very smart kid and I’m sure he’ll make the correct choice.

Thanks for the well wishes!

yes, awesome town for cfb

ETA: in the middle of PA, a long drive from anywhere, hotel situation is like Lambeau except no sizable towns nearby, hotels scarce
