No comments about the Atwater interview?

Or does it hit too close to home?

Did you want lee gone after 08? I would bet that the same people that wanted lee gone are the same ones that don't want JJ back.

I also didn't force him to break curfew and get into a fight which ultimately resulted in a suspension. The fact is, Jarrett Lee has made the most of his opportunity. If anybody says that the QB play isn't the best we've seen since 2007, then my question to you is, "What's your fricking agenda?" Welcome baack, Jj. As long as you will. Accept your role and support Jarrett Lee THE WAY HE HAS SUPPORTED. YOU, I'm glad to have you back.

Heard that JJ was back on the team from a friend last night...my first thought was of how fast this will show up as the blk/wht issue ??

I agree w/you 100%.
Now let's see if JJ has the same class as JL.

quote:

JJ has my support, as long as he mans-up and accepts his role as the back-up QB. If he causes a distraction, or attempts to bring attention to himself, all bets are off. Likewise, I fully support Les Miles, as he has done a great job, but my support will waver if he attempts to insert JJ into the starting role, without JLee doing something to deserve getting benched.

What the frick does Atwater got to do with me? I'm my own man and speak for myself. I take it that Atwater is white right? So you're grouping all white people together then. Atwater don't speak for me. timlan2057...... you need to check yourself.

Amen to this as well. I was going to start a thread about this but you beat me to it.

Everyone who has been flaming out about JJ coming back needs to get a grip and calm the frick down and remember a few things.

Both JJ and JL came to LSU because they wanted to play football here and go to school here. These guys along with the rest of the team love our school, our state, and their fans despite the occasional flying off the handle when they make a mistake, or 4 in a game, or when one is returned for a td.

First off JL deserves some praise from everyone who is a fan of LSU, and I am glad he has received it from damn near everyone. That kid went through hell at age 18 and has had more balls than 99% of the people I know, including probably myself, to stay here and face those mistakes like a man. He chose to stay here because he loves being a part of the football team here. He could have transferred and got more PT, but remember the article that said he wanted his degree to read LSU, that's a true tiger and he should be thought of as such.

JJ has had some ups and downs, but has done some good things for us, alot of times in lackluster fashion and with poor guidance in development from Crowton. That doesn't change the fact that he went to practice everyday and worked to get better by listening to what his coaches were telling him. I don't recall anayone ever seeing a report that questioned his work ethic like say Jamarcus' was. Has he wowed us with unbelieveable stats? No. Has he made us think wtf on a few occasions? Sure. Has he done what was asked of him? Yes and he made some mistakes along the way, just like Lee, just like Miles, just like the rest of our team and just like everyone else in life.

Those despising JJ's return need to remember that we are welcoming a senior back on the team who loevs playing football here, by all accounts was working harder than he had ever been to get better for his final campaign, made a big mistake by breaking curfew, but was accused of committing a crime that is has been shown he did not committ. Trust that our coach wants us to win and he will do what he feels is best for us to win. He has acknowledged that this is still Lee's team, and when JJ plays, trust that our coach is playing him in what he feels is best for our team and his players to win.

Everyone needs to grab a beer, relax, enjoy our position to make a championship run this season, be happy about the fact that we are getting very good play at all levels of our team, and we have an experienced back up at qb who knows our receivers having palyed with them for 4 years also, and a coach who wins games and has a very good chance to make us the first team with 3 crystal balls this year and will have a good chance the next two years to make us the first with 4 and he be the first coach to win 3.

um, I wish I had a screen shot of the Rant last night as Exhibit A... People wanted Lee off the field in 2008... People want Jefferson off the team and out of the state in 2011. Huge difference... and the venom and hate directed towards JJ is much worse than anything directed towards Lee, ever.

The only mention of 'race-card' I've seen are in threads like these complaining about the use of the race-card. We call that a straw man argument on the poliboard.

Timlan,

Lee Atwater? Dude, he's been dead for. 15 years.

Lee Atwater didn't speak for me. Does Louis Farrakhan speak for. You?

You. Obviously have a HUGe chip. On. Your. Shoulder.

Do all of the black posters here feel like this. Guy?

If so, God help us. We have much bigger problems than football.

Jesus, people. This is bullshite. The vast majority of anti-JJ sentiment is because of his inconsistent play and inability to pass the ball. Did you see any hate for Rohan? Jamarcus? If you say yes you are full of shite. Let's put this shite to rest.

I'm not black, but going by your OP it seems u do as well.

I don't think it's racism to say Lee should stay the starter. I feel that he should stay starter myself.

Your op though has a little "I think he does protest to much" vibe to it.

"anti-white racism" ... You good ole boys come up with some sayings in a silly attempt to reverse the terminology.

You remind me of a state senator from north Louisiana named Willie Rainach.

Rainach made a speech on the senate floor in Baton Rouge during the late 50s when Civil Rights was just starting to heat up.

He said: "Civil Rights and Integration will sell our entire Southern way of life down the river!"

A writer for the New York Times named A. J. Liebling gave a very observant comment:

"I thought it was black slaves who got sold down rivers."
