Um, your not gonna win any argument starting off with "LSU has NOT been lucky this year"

Or they just got beat. Negatiger delusionary excuse number 2.

It doesn't change the fact that it's true

Tell the truth, Les Miles and the LSU success is eating at you isn't it? It's burning a hole through you like holy water through a vampire.

Not eating me up at all. I'm just a fan scorned right now. I feel like Miles gave up on the fans the last 2 years and I responded by giving up on him. I'll return to the fold when I see him consistently lead the team with true fire in his eyes.

I don't get worked up about football, it's just a game.

I think he could get 100 wins if he stays here, but my prediction is the fans will continue to give him a hard time and he takes a new job, possibly in the NFL, within the next three years after winning another NC.

Absolutely he does and I don't think any future coach will break his record. I'm guessing he gets there with a 100- 23 record.
What coach can beat this?

The year after next could be a down year and with Mile's history of turning LSU into a laughing stock, another 5 loss year and he's gone. That's just the reality.

So, not this year...

Not next year...

but the year after next year is the problem.

I man that has had 10 win seasons, by far the winningest coach per tenure, but that year AFTER two great years...that mother fricker is going to get him.

Yes sir THAT is REALITY

By the way, just stay the hell out of the fold. Go find you a coach with FIRE IN HIS EYES...for just a game.

and I'm assuming we will sign a QB that can play "year after next".

Mettenberger + Rivers will be able to see us through until some future recruit is able to develop. Note: I'm assuming that Stephen develops like Philip did, which is fallacious, but there hopefully there's a strong genetic component in the quarterback position

And FWIW, I definitely think that Miles gets to the 100 win plateau. If the season plays out like we hope it will he'll be around 65 at the season's end.

As was said earlier, if he stays around for 4 years, he might and probably will. If he stays around for 5 years, he will without a doubt. And furthermore, if he's at the program for 11 years and gets 100 wins, hopefully he can get some people off his back.

But he seems to lack the pedal to the metal, attention to detail, killer instinct. He has the talent to put down these pathetic teams like dogs. He may be a nice guy IRL, but I want him, and his team to be RUTHLESS on the field.
On the spectrum of coaches like this Nick Saban is on one end and Urban Meyer is on the other. We had the former and it didn't work out. The latter is a tool who I'd never want coaching the Tigers (or anyone like him).

quote:

Therefore, my point still stands.
It really doesn't.

LSU is winning - just not how you'd like.

Les is Cholly Mac, with a championship. He's not Dietzel - the guy who broke through and put LSU on the map (or back on the map, to feed the metaphor) - only to jump at the chance to be somewhere else - ostensibly, someplace better. He's also not a win-at-all-costs - damn the consequences or police blotter - keep recruiting criminals as long as they pan out on the field kind of coach either.

Les is a coach who wants to be here, who can evaluate talent and recruit with the best of them, who develops relationships with players, values one or two things above winning (important things like not being above the team), and is becoming the face of a program that has had daddy issues for over 50 years.

Urban Meyer and Nick Saban are great coaches. If all LSU football is about is winning, I'd want them guiding my team. But we're LSU and it's not that simple. When I swell up with pride watching my Tigers - either in pregame during the four-corners salute or watching our D stuff a 4th down attempt in a close conference game - when the hair stands up on the back of my neck and I'm most proud to be an LSU fan, I'm glad we have a coach who - along with the players - gets it and is proud as hell too.

This post should have a topic of its own and be forever stickied at the top of the forum, but blocked to where arrogant douches can't suck the life out of this idea.

Kudos to you, sir!
