No doubt about that but your saying team, i dont know if he was educated on the subject. Therefore, it wasnt entirely his fault that the team bombed. Brady recruited athletes not quality teambased players. so once again i hope AR sharts on himself on the freethrow line!

Well, they finished the season at #17, so they would likely have had the talent to be a top 10 team by adding a lottery pick. They gave UNC their stiffest test of the entire NCAA tournament. If you have the ability to make the Final Four/Elite 8, then I'd like to say you are at least a national title contender? A lot of it would have depended on coaching and how AR responded to Johnson.

I just don't see them beating the elite of the elite with Randolf last year. The truth is, we might have been worse with him as well. Unlikely, but he might have fricked with chemistry. I will say, Johnson was a much much better hire then anyone I thought we would get and I do think LSU basketball will be the team to beat in the West for years to come once we get past this rebuilding year.

As far as Randolph concerned, this is what I've heard about him. He was dead set on leaving after his freshman year before he even enrolled at LSU. His attitude wasn't the greatest and the coaches jumped on him for being lazy in practice. From a pure talent perspective, he's the most talented guy to come through LSU in a long time.

Agreed, we'll just never know what could have been. Look how Thornton responded to the coaching change. He busted his butt on defense, which wasn't the case under Brady. Although he still went wild at times, his shot selection was better compared to his junior season. Maybe Johnson could have had the same positive effect on Randolph? But then again, maybe not...

Pettit and Macklin are first team period. I think Bass knocks Roberts off second team and TMitch comes in ahead of Thomas(only one year). Sparky Wade would be next in line as an AA on LSU's only basket ball NC.

I made that comment about them having a serious shot at the NC based upon what I saw when Randolph was there. What people are seriously overlooking is the fact that Johnson fed off Randolph, he was a different player with him there, Randolph allowed him to roam and not be the main big guy, and as result he played extremely well, when forced to be the big this past year look what happened, he didn't live up to expectations.

I agree with you on Randolph, he takes a serious leap forward his soph year and starts dominating much like he is now in this summer league, with that kind of explosive talent surrounded by Mitchell and Temple they would have beat UNC, don't know why people can't see that. but Randolph wanted was immature and dead set on leaving for NBA money, your right, if Johnson was coaching him maybe he comes back, but Brady didn't give a frick.

yea that was a disaster of a season with taz going down and CJ breaking his hand and missing a few games. it was fun to see AR and CJ try and swat at everything that came near them

we'd still have struggled soemwhat defending the post, but he'd have been a force like he was towards the end of his freshman season. cant wait to see him break through in the nba.

eta- in regards to randolph being lazy at times, lets not forget that great brady quote during a practice

"come on randolph, you look like got damn little foot out there!"

He didn't really become that much more of a force, if you look at his stats for each game he took a lot more shots the last 10 or so games of the season than he had been. He was just trying to improve his draft stock. But I still would have liked to have seen him back this year.
