and thank god he did, because I had totally forgotten who our last coach was. What a valuable service he is providing to the fanbase and to the public at large.

I talked to roy lang III, one of the other gannett writers, not long before I left shreveport. He said GG gets tired of covering LSU... And that sometimes he does intentionally write articles more negative than even he really feels.
That being said, I do remember an article not long after spears and clayton signed LOIs and saban saying he felt those two staying in state was huge for lsu recruiting, that he felt hed really won a battle for those louisiana kids.
I know the biggest names to leave were dunn and payton manning, but didn't even eli pass on saban?
I don't disagree that saban did his part, but why do people deny miles what he has done?
Where's the saban pipeline from michigan state to the NFL?????????????????????

You keep harping on this as a means to dodge the most important question. What is the POINT of writing a piece that is giving all of the credit to the current coach at Alabama. There was nothing factually incorrect in the LSU PR. It did not mention any coaches other than the current one. It only stated facts. So why expand on those facts in a manner that gives all the credit to a guy who now coaches a division rival and is a veiled slap at the current coach unless you want to continue that narrative?

This is not really true. LSU did always send players to the NFL but clearly that pipeline had dried up by the early-mid 90's. It was re-started by Gerry DiNardo and maybe even Curly (Faneca, Kennison). Since it has been 10 years (thank God) that GD coached at LSU, a good number of "his" players that played in the NFL are now out of the league (D. Davis for example). The avg NFL career is 3-4 years tops. This is not to be little what Saban did. Where as GD got 70-75% of the top talent to stay in state, Saban go the rest. That's the difference from being a fringe top 10 team and a National Power. Saban gets the credit for building a powerhouse, but the NFL pipeline was flowing when he got here, he just increased the volume.

What is the point of pointing out facts.

GG didn't dispute. He elaborated.

To bother rantards like you.

Flowing?

Prove it.

Ask the coaches of Track and Baseball how that pipeline was flowing.

But FACTS of Saban establishing a recruiting base escapes you.

I wonder how many more of Saban's players made it to the NFL?

I wonder how many championships Saban won.

I wonder what the frick Dinardo did that makes him a better coach than Saban?

Oh, he's on ESPN.

My bad!

Guilbeau's article in 2036 will credit Saban for the Louisiana NFL players that were conceived during Saban's stint at LSU.

So you are saying just as many players were going into the NFL pre-Saban? Isn't the article just stating facts?

You still haven't answered the question.
quote:

GG didn't dispute. He elaborated.

Right, that's it, that's why he said this:
quote:

. A release by LSU said that coach Les Miles had coached 22 of the 41 players on the NFL's active rosters. t did not mention that former LSU coach Nick Saban signed 33 of the 47 players from 2000-04

Yep, just setting the record strait, no agenda there

quote:

Flowing?

Prove it.

Signed by Former Coach Gerry DiNardo from 1995-99 - S Ryan Clark, Pittsburgh; RB Kevin Faulk, New England; DT Howard Green, New York Jets; DL Jarvis Green, New England; LB Bradie James, Dallas; C Todd McClure, Atlanta; WR Josh Reed, Buffalo; S Mark Roman, San Francisco; TE Robert Royal, Cleveland.

These are players signed by Dinardo that are currently in the NFL. As noted he has not been the HC at LSU for over a decade and NFL careers avg 3-4 yrs at most. Among those that are no longer in the NFL singed by GD and CH: 1st rounders Eddie Kennison, David LaFluer and Anthony McFarland. Josh Booty, Rohan Davey, Dominick Davis/Williams LaBrandon Toefield, Rondell Meally, Cecil Collins, Kenny Mixon (2nd rd) Chuck Wiley, Brandon Winey, Wade Richey, Louis Williams, Kendrick Allen, Bret Bech, Rodney Young (CH) Gabe Northern, Tory James, Shawn King.

That's about 30 and I'm bound to be forgetting some one.
quote:

No, but reading comprehension and sublty escapes you. If you put down the koolaid and stop seeing the world only in extremes, you might have noticed where I said
quote:

Where as GD got 70-75% of the top talent to stay in state, Saban go the rest (ETA: By that I mean Saban got 95-100%, since sublty escapes you that means I am crediting Saban for increasing the recruiting base or taking it to the next (higher) level) . That's the difference from being a fringe top 10 team and a National Power. Saban gets the credit for building a powerhouse,
