This whole MF/JJ conversation is old, irrelevant and not gonna help your boy one fricking bit come august.
we all know what your agenda is
you don't even try to hide it anymore
JJ is not "our boy"
he's the starting QB of the lsu football team who the real fans support no matter what
you are a sad individual because it seems like you are trying to live vicariously through Jarrett lee.
Just sad

This... All we need is for JJ to be serviceable/manageable guy and for the other pieces of the puzzle to fall in place then we'll be there in the end. Hes not going to be JR or RD but he can get us what we need if he just steps up a little more.

I hope he gets better because it's good for lsu
lsu doing well > particular qb having good stats
lsu doing well > particular qb having good stats

That is a fact buddy.
and you aren't if he does?

My agenda for this team is to win, agenda for offense is to move the ball and my agenda for defense is to stop teams from moving ball.

That's not really relevant.
You said Doc would have nothing to say if JJ didn't improve.
I said you would have nothing to say if JJ did.
Posted on 4/5/10 at 7:35 pm to OBUDan
sure it is...
I didnt say he couldnt or wouldnt improve, i just said I dont think hes that good.
actually what i said was (more than once) is that JJ is an athlete playing qb and he has learned this isnt Destrehan HS.
FWIW...Lots of people agree.

ever stop to think that these guys aren't receiving adequate coaching to succeed at this level? I highly doubt that Lee and Jefferson both just happen to be busts.
I wrote this for another thread on this topic, but it's appropriate here:
"Although bad coaching CAN be an explanation for why a certain player has not developed as anticipated, it is not the only possible explanation. Sometimes kids just to not develop as much as you would like, no matter how good or bad the coaching or teaching is. I see this all the time in music (my field), and we have all seen examples of "sure fire" athletes who never panned out. It's not always because they didn't receive adequate coaching."
I'll add that it's probably as hard to guage how good a QB is going to be as it is to anticipate whether a pitcher will be any good. There is a reason that NFL teams are getting more gunshy about picking a QB at the top of the draft. There have just been too many examples of highly rated QBs that didn't produce.

There is also a reason that college teams see starting a Freshman or Soph as a liability.

Then why dont we all step away from the knighting of one QB or the other and let competition sort this thing out?

Surely you know by now that only rantards know the qb that will lead us to the promised land. WTF do coaches that see players daily know?
Idiots like TigerLee will stand by JL even after LaTech and Bamma performances.
The dude needs battered woman counseling.

b/c of that was the case that would mean certian posters on here would have to admit that JJ may not be the chosen one.
Just a guess.

I'll enter the fray, what the hell?
First, even though MF led LSU to the NC in '07, he didn't have the greatest year. Hell, we're one of the only teams ever to lose 2 games and win a NC. But, while not spectacular, MF did make plays i.e. the Auburn game and he sustained drives. To me, that is where a QB makes his money - 3rd down conversions.
Now to JJ. He was forced to play behind one of the worst offensive lines I have ever seen at LSU both in run blocking and in pass protection. He was consistently in 3rd and long situations and did not fare well in overcoming these predicaments. He holds onto the ball too long and did not appear to have great pocket presence or mechanics, both are characteristic of a young QB. Bc of all of these factors, the offense struggled greatly.
Now, would JJ have had more success with the '07 supporting cast. Without a doubt. Would he have won a NC? Probably not. So I'll give the nod to Flynn in his fifth year over JJ in his second/first year.
As for JL, he is probably the most gifted passer of all three of the QBs, but he has zero pocket presence , zero mobility, and makes poor decisions under pressure. So unless you can hide him behind the great wall of China, I don't think he's the answer either. At least JJ can make plays with his legs when the protection breaks down.

my two cents...
chicken salad to me = a QB that doesn't throw pick-6's or sit back and take sacks all day. I don't need 65-70% completion ratio and 4000 yds passing (leave that to Kentucky and TT)...just FBI. Defense wins the game, but the offense can lose it.
