No reason to melt. There is reason for people to think Landry should stfu. This is some straight Louisiana BS. Politicians need to stay out of football/sports. They already frick up too much other stuff.

A good coach will want the job, and we can move on from the past 6 years.

Why would anyone do that when you’re going to have programs like UF, PSU, Arkansas, etc that are going to be offering a high base with guaranteed money.

This is how you get stuck with someone like skip holtz.

The only way it works is if the upside is considerably more than the alternative base salary. E.g. if someone else is offering $10m base and you’re offering $5m base, maybe you’re offering $15m total for a CFP appearance and $20m total for a championship.

Not saying those are the numbers but just illustrating the point. It would have to be a deal where, if the coach is successful, you actually end up paying a lot more. Otherwise the coach would be a fool to pass up his market value.

#1, #5, #6, #8, #9, #10, #12, #13, #15 all have coaches that where assistants before being hired
#2, #7 #14 all hired coaches from now P4 schools

Elko, DeBoer, Cristobal are the only 3 in the top 15 right now that came from another P4 school.

so yall can stop with the experience matters BS because all the ones that are at the top of the game right now didnt have it. Half the time when they do have it and win...yall bring up Curley and say they are only winning because of 1 great player. its not 1990 anymore
