Wade gets it. The players don’t.

He can’t do it for them

Hopefully he finds the right mix of guys that give a shite soon.

They went over 6 minutes without a FG 3/4 through the 2nd half.... cant typically win if you cant score.

Hitting wide open 3s isn’t “making plays”. That’s hitting well guarded, hand in your face 3s. There is a big difference.

quote:

“Some of it is we’ve got some of these new guys here that think it’s a God-given right that things are going to go well and some of these old guys are living off last year a little bit,” he said. “But this is a new team and everybody’s got new roles.

Last years team was the same way. Wade had to let them lose a few games before they bought in and started playing defense, rebounding, and moving the ball on offense.

I think they will improve but there are fundamental flaws that probably limit the ceiling of this team... no true big, no true point guard, and lack of 3 point shooters. One of those deficiencies could be masked but not all 3.

This is correct, this is exactly what it looked like early last year. We were just better though.

Hell, l wanted Wade fired after the first 10 games last year. Hopefully we see a similar turn around as far as effort. I doubt we have the same results, but no one expected this team to be that competitive.

I only saw the last few minutes. We missed 2 free throws, wide open 3 (by Smart) and had chance at end to tie or win but Smart's shot was blocked. Tigers had their chances - especially in last few minutes. I don't know what our percentages are from 3 point land this season but that's the way to win college basketball games these days. I would rather have 5 guys on the court that can fill it up from 3 point land. At least we are competitive.

I saw a team without a PG that can control the game and make good decisions in close games that can make the difference. Unless smart changes his game dramatically, they will continue to play in close games but lose in the end.
