I like coach Miles but I think he could be making a mistake placing all this confidence in jefferson and lee. Mettinburger is listed as 3rd string on the depth chart. A third string QB gets almost no reps during practice, if JJ and Lee fail again Mett will not know the offence.

I hope JJ and Lee do well but wish Mett was at least 2nd string so he would be ready if we need him! Moreover, it would help prepare him for next year.

Maybe he's 3rd cause he doesn't know the offense and he is not ready. Can't force someone to be ready. Until then... he's 3rd.

The coach will put the QB in 1st that he thinks gives him the best chance to win. Then he will put the QB he thinks gives them the best chance to win if the 1st goes down... in 2nd. Then comes 3rd.

So it appears the coaches think Mett is the 3rd best chance to win now.

That and I suspect Miles still has some plans for JL, so you can't just throw him to the curb just to give Mett a few extra reps.

Don't think it's wise to have a guy 2nd for the extra reps in practice if they are not considering him 1st off the bench... and right now Mett clearly isn't 1st off the bench.

How many games have we played yet? We are not gonna start a guy vs Oregon, who has never started a D1 game.

I'm not criticizing any of our QB's but don't you think we should have Mett ready just incase they both revert to form?

I didn't say start Mett, just make sure he gets the reps he needs.

Do you really think even now Lee is better then Mett. Did you see the spring game?

Ok start Jefferson but move Mett to 2nd.

I'm sure they are trying to get Mett ready. But who do you think we should take reps from just to give Mett more?

I think JJ and JL can use all the reps they can get. And considering they are both ahead of Mett as far as actually getting in the game (at least games still in doubt), they should still be getting the reps.

Chances they revert to form... 50/50. But I think we all know Miles will ride JJ and JL, because of the time they have put in.

In other words, if Jefferson goes to taking sacks, and Lee goes to throwing picks... I got money says they still don't hand it over to Mett to "save the day".

I think Mett shows promise, but I'm not ready to declare him the golden child, much less 2nd string. Just my 2 cents...

I'll leave that decision to Miles and Krag. Whoever they think is the best chance to win off the bench is the one who should be getting 2nd string reps. Period.

If they don't consider Mett the 2nd QB, then the reps will come... but it will be next offseason.

And maybe... just maybe... the coaches feel that JL and JJ reverting to form is still better than Mett if he's not ready.

Hell, if Mett just isn't ready, he might not even be the 3rd QB.

If Mett is that bad, JJ and Lee better be much improved. LSU found a way to work around the QB situation last year and it was fairly effective and I am not sure they can dodge that bullet again this year.

Yeah, I'm not saying that as if it's a bad thing.

The issue is taking away reps from a kid who has been getting 2nd string reps for 3 years. I don't think it's a good idea.

ETA: I would stick with JJ and JL too.

Dreds it was posted previously on the rant I thought it was from the media guide.

Neither JJ nor Jl have preformed consistently. JJ has only done well with multiple weeks to prepare. HE WILL GO TO METT IF REQUIRED! But Mett won't be ready if this continues.
