Don't you remember my trivia thread from a few months back?

Ahhh, yes. Forgot that was you.
I grew up near there, myself...then we moved. My best friend in BR grew up in that hood as well.

no way was Geert a bust.... he probably was the biggest overachiever in BBall history....
Posted on 1/30/09 at 8:04 pm to lsutiger4life
Geert was defintely a success at LSU, far from being a 'bust'. Funny thing, he was drafted & ended up backing Shaq in the pros too!!

Tom Curry tranferred to Marshall, when his high school coach, rick Huckaby, got the Marshall job. Rick was an LSU assistant at the time, also. Before he passed away a couple of years ago, Rick told me that Curry was homeless and Rick was trying g to help him get back on his feet.

Yeah, I was gonna say that Curry never played here, and when he did sign with LSU, we also hired his coach at Redemptorist, Gary Duhe. Curry went on to play for Marshall, coached by the aforementioned Rick Huckaby. Oddly enough, Huckaby was hired away from Redemptorist to coach at LSU as an assitant when we signed his top player Howard Hi C Carter in 79'.

Can't resist making a sarcastic comment about our former coach, can you? In reality you can make the same comment about most recruiting classes at any school in any year. Let's look at Brady's recruits.
2007
Anthony Randolph NBA first round draft pick
Marcus Thornton All SEC 2008, possible POY 2009
Bo Spencer Double figure scorer
2006
Terry Martin Avg. 9.5 PPG as sixth man part time starter last two years
2005
Tasmin Mitchell Top 15 player in HS All SEC player
Chris Johnson Probable NBA 2nd round pick
Magnum Rolle possible NBA draft pick next year
2004
Tyrus Thomas 4th pick in NBA draft
Glen DAvis 2nd round NBA pick, SEC POY, All American
Garret Temple All American defensive player
All three strted on Final Four team
2003
Brandon Bass High 2nd round NBA pick, sSEC POY and SEC Academic Athlete of year for all sports
Tac Minor Double digit scorer and would have continued to improve if not for academic issues
Darnell Lazre valuable backup on final Four team
Ross Neltner elected to transfer rather than compete for PT with talented recruits, Averaged double figures at Vandy
2002
Jaime Lloreda All SEC Center
Darrel Mitchell All SEC guard starter on Final Four team
2001
Antonio Hudson 4 year starter 20 th leading scorer in school history
All SEC tourney selection twice
2000
Kedrick Brown signed in early signing period as JUCO then opted for NBA draft and went in first round
Jumichael Young One of top two players in state but left team due to personal issues
Only two signees due to NCAA sanctions
1999
Ronald Dupree All SEC 8 th all time scorere in LSU history NBA draft pick
Torris Bright 15th All time scorer
Jermaine Wiliams valuable backup and part time starter
Brad Bridgewater 3 year strter
1998
Stromile Swift SEC POY, All American 2nd pick in NBA draft
Jabari Smith All SEC NBA draft pick
Collis Temple 3 year strter 24 th All time scorer
That is an impressive group. Why not focus on their accomplishments rather than the few who did not become regular players.
