I figured I would just go with an All-Brady team:

PG-Tack Minor
SG-Dameon Mason
SF-Regis Koundjia
PF-Ross Neltner
C-Magnum Rolle

I think it's safe to say he was a SUCCESS. He averaged about 20 and 10 his final year. I was at the last home game that season and he got a huge ovation when he was taken out near the end and he waved back to the crowd.

He did a helluva job filling in for Shaq in the '91 State game and Auburn/SECtourney(Shaq was injured)and then later when Shaq was suspended for the Groves incident. Geert ws just never comparable to Shaq, so he just didn't seem like he was great. He was pretty damn goofy his freshman season.

If the bastard could have just CAUGHT the ball his freshman year, he would have been unstoppable.

And Dameon Mason was a very productive player at Marquette. Hell, Magnum Rolle is doing alright in with La Tech. There is really just one common factor that led to these guys failing at LSU, and fortunately he is no longer associated with the team.

we had some colorful players back then. i loved all the back stories..schnintuz and the tennis balls, barry GOO HEEEEN, m&m bros lighting us up with 3s, tracy launching himself into the scorer's bench going after every out-of-bounds ball no matter how out of reach, the 'freak' defense..gathers & kimball..and then just kimball doing the left handed free throws..shark eating his towel while lsu lit them up for 120+ points..cj and the stories of the high school team staying until 9-10pm at night waiting for him to miss a free throw before they could go home...

In my opinion, those were the best days of basketball and I was still a child. I just loved it so much that I absorbed it and I can remember games and players better than what I had for lunch.

The '85-'92 seasons were the best.

*sigh* I got a few on tape..if you ever watch the UNLV game, everytime they cut to a commercial they're showing the dude in a striped shirt waving a big yellow sign. that is moi I've got the flock-of-seagulls hair going on

Those were the days..I am so glad I went to every game I could get tix for..I was there from 85-90 so I saw alot of good basketball.

The '89 game? Dude... I will...and I am on the bench in that game right behind Dale. I have on a purple LSU sweatshirt and am sitting to left of the older kid with downs syndrome.

Nice...I will try to pop it in this evening. And you were there when my brother was - the golden age. You had 4 good football seasons and great basketball.

Coach Brown sent me a personal letter inviting me to sit on the bench for the UNLV game. I was a good athlete in elementary school, but also had a bad stomach problem that hospitalized me for a month or so and then two years later, it came back. I didn't get to sit on the bench, but got some very warm letters from Geert, Mike Hansen, and Vernel. Dale was a great guy.

sitting right behind Brown. I am holding a program and a pen. That was an awesome day for me. I don't even think I was 11 yet. I was quite a tot. YOu wouldn't look at me then and think I'd be 6 foot 3.

People forget about a guy named Tom Curry. He was Redemptorist grad--85/86. 1st Team Parade All-American, McDonald's All-American, 1st team All-State, -Parish, -City,-District, etc. etc.

The first play of every game in High School was for him to hit the ball off the tip-off to the back court where the guard was waiting, he would then streak to the basket and catch a pass for an earth shattering "Alley Oop."

He got to LSU, and then disappeared off the face of the earth. I think he dropped out or transferred. Not sure.

to be honest, my neighbor was don redden and i knew next to nothing about lsu sports traditions when i got to lsu..the first football game i went to in 1985 & heard those 4 notes hooked me for life..and the first game i watched redden do a behind-the-back pass to blanton (some early season no-name team) hooked me on basketball..

..it wasnt a far stretch to get equally hookd on baseball with ben johnson and others..

in a way, i was very spoiled..those years were something special for all 3 sports at lsu even though the real world series juggernaut started after i graduated

WOW. We loved Don. I have a pic of me when I was about 4, sitting in his lap at one of the scrimmages. What a great Tiger. I'll never forget the '88 SEC tourney when his family was honored at center court. Chills.
