During the 3q, Bama's play by play announcer, Eli Gold, was saying he was confused that Miles was not giving Lee an opportunity at QB with the way JJ was playing. All the Bama fans around us at the game were confused that Miles did not give Lee an opportunity. Miles must have had his reasons not to replace Jefferson with Lee, but we didn't understand it!

Your announcer won't have to ever worry about JJ again. He will have to speak now about Mettenberger, Rivers and Gunner,,,

Thanks for the insight. We had not considered that angle yet. Someone should start a thread.

Yes, I'm being an arse. Sorry.

He was afraid that Alabama would sack or intercept Lee due to the pass rush. ("not as mobile as JJ")

Fear of losing is what cost LSU the game.

The play calling from start to finish was not a plan of "letr rip"..it was "play it safe, avoid mistake, punt is a good play" type of game.

Alabama made them quit.

Terrible strategery, but it dovetails exactly what Holtz said,...The hunter is always the aggressor of the hunted and why the rematch favored Alabama.

I didn't buy into that psychological stuff, but now seeing how both team played, it's the only thing that makes sense to a 13-0 team getting dominated by a team they already beat in thier house.

Alabama may have moved the ball and outplayed LSU in the first game, but LSU out rushed Alabama 144-96 in that particular game.

In the MNC game, they were completely shut down as if Alabama was listening in on the head set.

The game plan was just all wrong... Not sure it would have mattered..but if LSU scores a TD in the first half, it's game on until the final minute IMHO.

LSU just could not get off the mat...the spark never happened

Looking back, this trend started under JJ...a special team play created the momentum...

Only Miles does.

Actually, I'm not sure he does, either.

All the more reason to give Lee and the passing game a chance. There is no one more grateful that LM was stubborn than NS and his team. If you watch the replay, there were 8 or ten times that LSU had open receivers downfield and JJ let the ball go on only two of those occasions. A better passer with a quick release coupled with the skill of the WR's could have resulted in a couple of big plays and in a game like that, that's all it might take to completely turn the tide. No pun intended.
