Since LSU recruits Texas as much or more than any other SEC team, an arguement could be made we would be the school most affected by A&M joining the conference.

Vandy will never be booted period. Strictly due to the Academic Excellence that they bring to the conference. I know many people on here do not care about that but the conference does. Besides i bet they have a killer chess team.

Fact is, outside of football, Vandy is more than competitive in all other sports.

"On the other hand, A&M in the SEC would be able to market itself as the SEC team in Texas, the lone opportunity for hotshot Texas recruits to stay in their home state and play in the best football conference in America."
fify Travis. LSU, Ark. and 'Bama will continue to lure in Texas talent regardless of whether aTm ever joins the SEC.

They just beat Georgia Tech for the Dungeons and Dragons National Championship!

SEC! SEC! SEC!

It's a rigged system though. They really need a playoff.

do we not see a potential problems of recruits that we would normally snipe from texas staying in state to go to A&M if they were in the SEC?

I actually view it as a positive that we'll pick up more kids in Texas that will want to play against the Aggies as well as against the likes of the gumps, the whore chickens, the piglets and the lizards.

Adding aTm would adversely affect LSU more than any other SEC school, obviously. You can bet the Alabama/Auburn monolith in the SEC office will push hard for it. LSU fans should do all they can to resist.

The only good news is the SEC would pick up Clearasil as a corporate sponsor. Maybe the Ags could join the Big Zit Conference.

The SEC is so solid, and Texas is so talent-rich, that even Baylor would be a good addition.

You do realize that the SEC competes in more sports than just football, right? Vanderbilt has a great baseball program,

It's all about football, brotha. I watch football, basketball and LSU Baseball, but in the end, what matters in the SEC is football.

As far your comment about the SEC not being held back, sure we have won 5 straight titles and we could add Tulane and still be considered the toughest; however, there is always the argument from the Pac 10/Big 10 folks of "well, at least we don't have a Vandy to beat up on." And they are right. That's what I meant by Vandy holding us back. They are never competitive and I believe we should drop them.

Have you looked at Washington State lately? Stanford, for most years, has been pretty damn weak. Until recently (last 20 years) both Oregon schools sucked.

You really don't know what you're talking about on this issue.

Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt all disagree.

That pretty much ends any discussion of Vandy getting removed.

the challenge, according to another link, is ESPN.

They would have to restructure both the SEC and TEX deals.

A&M could keep TEX on their schedule.

It seems like its more likely now than ever before, but ESPN holds the cards for now.

What B.S. Vanderbilt doesn't even compete in some of the sports that the SEC offers--why should they even be an SEC member then? They are also the only Division I school without an athletic department, which explains why they have trouble there.

Adding TCU & USF is the way to go if the SEC wants to expand, fyi imo btw fwiw imho.

Take the TX & FL recruiting grounds and break them up to further weaken the future potential of programs like Texas, Oklahoma, FSU, & Miami.

I think what you are trying to say is, "I don't agree with you on this issue."

I like Vandy; I practically lived in Nashville for almost three years, have visited the campus, have partied with students. Vandy beats in basketball just about every year, but then again who doesn't?

My question is: Doesn't it upset you that in the last 28 seasons, Vandy has only been to one bowl game? From a football standpoint, Vandy is always crappy, and I don't see that changing. Ever.

Or maybe you like the fact that there is a "Vanderbilt," a team that you can pretty much bet your house that LSU will beat every time we play them.

Or maybe I'm still bitter about LSU losing to Vandy back in 1990 (the beginning of the end for Mike Archer). Tommy Hodson got injured, Chad Loup replaced him and did a fine job, referees cost us the friggin' game. Broke my 9 year old little heart. Very traumatizing for a kid to have to go through, losing to Vanderbilt...

Nah, you just think you have this great idea, and it's an idea that probably hasn't been discussed this much on this board in about seven years. That's because not only do I not agree with you, but pretty much no one agrees with you.

Virtually everyone involved likes Vandy in the SEC.

I know, I know--they're bad at football. Excellent point. I've never heard this before.
