I thought our oline played hard but their blocking techniques is so different than texas. We play with our arms outstretched and at a distance. They play a mauling technique up close like a wrestling match. Yea, they hold, tackle, but hell it was never called, so it must be legal. It damn sure works for them and bama. We damn sure got the beef up front to play that way.

Keep your hands inside and they'll allow some holding...

If we played like that, they’d call the holding. Better safe than sorry.

Time to get Kevin Mawae on staff. We have 2 coaches at damn near every position. Might as well for the Oline too. I agree about technique though. We get by on size and strength alone at times

Exactly. Yes, there was a lot of holding but some people on the Score board were losing their minds when they were holding the jersey inside the shoulders.

I guess what im trying to say is that we seem to be coached to play a more finesse style instead of more physical. Wish we was coached to play like that, we have some road graders up front.

Yet we had better ypc on offense and gave up less sacks and pressures

The hands in tight controlling your man method is the new way of teaching O line blocking. That is what I was told recently. No longer is it engage and extend the arms. Something about making it harder for rip moves by the d lineman to break the engagement.

They keep their hands inside and hold the shoulder pads for all it’s worth...good technique
