This is much easier to understand when you realize the NCAA does not hand down punishment for criminal activity.

Yeah, the NCAA hasn't suspended any of our players that have been arrested over the past decade. That's all been handled in house.

They have stepped in with funky grades, drug testing and that situation with Shepard.

The NCAA is a joke. They play God with kid's futures. To have a more severe punishment than their professional counterparts is absolutely ridiculous.

No body held a gun to this kids head and forced him to act like a dumbass! These kids know the damn rules.....now suffer the consequences. They have an opportunity to play a GAME while acquiring an education. The fact that these players cannot understand this and continue to do stupid shite......is not the fault of the law or the rules!

With that said, I do believe however that the punishment should be shorter.

I agree 100% but where do they get off telling grown-arse adults whether or not they can sign private endorsement deals and other money making ventures outside of the University?

This will allow the schools with the richest alumni an unfair advantage. Schools like Texas and Notre Dame would absolutely dominate. Recruiting pitch would be simple. Come play for us and make all this extra money on the side. This would still be the wild Wild West. If players feel that violated and taken advantage of in the current system - don’t play.
