LSU's entrance standards are a lot less rigorous than TAMU and UT.
However, college entrance requirements are not a measure of a university's academic rigor. The true measure is wether unqualified students are able to graduate-which at LSU they are not. So, in the end, entrance requirements are insignificant.

Applicants should evaluate their test scores and decide if retaking the test is necessary to make their score competitive. The average SAT and ACT scores of the incoming fall freshmen class were: 1210 (Verbal + Math) SAT; 26 ACT composite. Applicants applying to the Dwight Look College of Engineering are required to meet a minimum math score of 550 on the SAT or a minimum math score or 24 on the ACT.

Texas A&M Freshman Requirements
The incoming freshmen at LSU in 2009 had a mean ACT of 25.5 composite and an SAT of 1167....so they are pretty close in terms of those who were admitted. A&M may have a higher denial rate, not sure.
Here is a link of info that includes info about LSU's freshman class in 2009-210.

By the way...the word is that the incoming freshmen class for this fall will be up about 500+ plus people.

I hope you are not saying that all colleges are the same? I hear all the time about people bitching at Notre Dame because their requirements are too hard for football players.

As far as athletes go, not schools are equal. Not by any means

And just in case anyone is confused, the order is like this....
Texas
Texas A&M
LSU
And please don't say rankings and test scores, etc don't matter.

my daughter is enrolling at lsu now. appears enrollment requirements are almost the same. hardly any difference.

schools may have different standards for entry that are more stringent than the NCAA clearing house...but the Clearing House sets the minimum standards for athletes entry...thats the same for every school! I know that most schools go by this, including LSU....if you meet the clearing house standards you qualify! NCAA Minimun Standards, grades and ACT scores

OU, ARK and LSU are full of kids that get rejected by A&M.
Another huge difference - LSU is broke.
A&M is not. It draws revenue from a $31 billion
permanent fund it shares with UT plus it's own
$8 billion endowment.

Only because there are more qualified applicants from in-state who apply at A&M and UT; sheer numbers drive the rejection rate higher at those schools. The 10% rule (which guarantees admission at in-state schools in Texas) forces many qualified high school graduates to look elsewhere, and is a boon for schools like OU, Arkansas, and LSU which have smaller population pools to draw from.
