A truly great QB is all we are missing for unprecedented greatness.

We always have great backs, great linemen on both sides, great athletes at DB and WR.
We are typically not at that same level with LBs and at QB.
A truly great QB put with all of these pieces was just a matter of time. Metts and/or Gunner will be that.

I must be missing something, but i was pretty sure that an undefeated 14-0 season was pretty unprecedented for LSU.

I agree that the Tigers were missing the QB upgrade, but over the last 2yrs the amount of dropped balls has been somewhat high and ball placement was not the problem....
Once guys that will grab and hold on step up....
