If you go 0 or 1, man coverage, you are under the assumption that your guys are better than their guys. If a spread offense sees you in man, motions and stacked formations and bunch formations come into play. This is even more complicated for the secondary because assignments change based on formations, positioning of the WR's and routes run by the WR's. What if the offense goes empty backfield and you have your Mike LB on JFF? That's tough sledding for anybody. Please recall the Bama game winning screen...that was man coverage...

not necessarily. Saints blitzed really heavy in 2011 because we couldn't generate pressure without it. A sack should kill a drive.

what if you give him 15 seconds to throw the ball? Johnny's going to get his yards, but if you can take away a few possessions we're fine. We actually played a lot of cover 0 against him last season and delayed blitzed. Played a good bit of a 3-man front too

This thread is some of the most sober posts post-game. I'm not sure what the answer is going forward. I think Chief needs some facet he can count on and was hoping that would be Freak/Ego.

I like the high risk-high reward option.

I honestly think with all of the confusion that our defense has had with the zone, all there is to do is line up in a simple man and try to make things happen. Force quick throws and maybe a corner can capitalize, or get a sack kill the drive.

What worries me more than the corners getting beat for big plays is them trying to tackle one on one in space...All they do as it is is dive at the ball carrier's ankles. They gotta learn to tackle.
