Not that I necessarily believe we play down to instate schools on purpose, but this is a different take as it is related to keeping in Louisiana recruits, in Louisiana.

LINK

Sure it speaks toward recruiting and putting the fence up, but when we go out of our way to develop relationships with these schools, schedule them more often, are we gonna play them differently? Dunno, but I expect a much different approach toward old miss than the 2 recent in state schools.

quote:

LSU is paying Southeastern $500,000, Louisiana Tech $1.15 million, and Northwestern State and McNeese $600,000. It also provides exposure to these schools playing the flagship program.

"You can't buy that," Scelfo said. "You can't put a price tag on that. That's going to help us with recruiting and getting players later on down the line."

So when Louisiana Tech comes to Tiger Stadium on Saturday, there won't be any competitive animosity. Orgeron and Scelfo shook hands two weeks ago and spoke. Holtz and Orgeron likely will do the same.

Beating them is one thing, but embarrassing them is another entirely as he is trying to develop those relationships. Wait and see. The outcome against old miss might say something...

You seriously think they intentionally let that game get to 24-21?

C’mon man...

I think that is a possibility. But one of these days a tipped ball, one bad call at the end, and a 50 yard field goal deflected off the right goal post is going to cost LSU a lot of embrassment and shame. Mom always said don't play with your food son.
Just sayin.

I seriously think they could turn it on whenever they wanted. Because they did.

24-0 and 38-21.

Look people said the last instate game that LSU DID NOT want to embarrass them as to that’s why they didn’t run the score up! I agree why on earth would you want to run the score up, now I think they slouched on D lastnight on purpose and then it almost bit them in the arse. Hints as to how the D was completely different in the end of the 4th. Two sack that looked too easy. Yes it is believable that they simply will not embarrass in-state schools.

Didn't say I believed that. Only that there is a different agenda suggested towards developing relationships with instate schools. How we play them is speculation at best. I included wait and see for just that reason.

Did you read the article?

Not neccesarily conscientiously, but they did become complacent which stoked their competitive fires. They almost believed they could win until they didn't. See this in tennis all the time.

There was a good segment on the pregame show on ESPN radio. It was brought up that CEO has shut down the satellite camps in LA by bridging the camps at all the D1 schools in LA. He has made arrangements that all of them are invited to attend LSU camps and he sends his staff to help them at their camps. In return, they have cancelled any such agreements with TX, aTm, Mich, FSU, tOSU, and others. Basically, if they participate in those schools camps then they are shut out of LSU's camp system which has become pretty unified.

I am still shocked that Va Tech was beaten by Old Dominion and the fact that Tech played AT Old Dominion. LSU would never play at any school in Louisiana.
