Damn this team was talented! Probably one of the best olines ever. Plus that RB trio of Faulk, Mealey and Collins. Also that Defense was nassssty!

Just lacked good coaching

Dinardo had us poised to break out as a national power after the Florida win, then got paranoid and stopped trusting his coordinators. Look at his record before and after that game

during the 96 season there were signs all over campus during tailgates "Dinardo for president". at the end of 97, those signs read "Fire Dinardo"

That 3 game stretch of Vandy, Florida, Ole Miss was a huge rollercoaster for Dinardo. They barely escaped against a bad Vandy team. Played out of their minds to get the upset over UF then promptly collapsed against a good, but not great Ole Miss team in the dreaded JP spot. You could probably argue that they weren't quite as good as the night they played UF, but if they get Ole Miss the next week at ANY time slot except 11:30 am, they win that game and potentially reach the SECCG.

In '98 Dinardo hires Tepper and proceeds to lead the most disappointing season (relative to preseason expectations) in probably the last 30 years or so.

The thing about"98 the season unraveled into Shitfest, but I still believe Tyler and Faulk would have destroyed Tulane if they had played.

Tepper with his “It will take me 3 years to install my whole defense” shite was a big arse mistake.
