1) We did not show much on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball... BTW thats a good thing, contrary to popular opinion playing it close to the vest is a VERY good thing AT THIS POINT in the season. We won!

2) We have a young QB who played a solid game, NO INT's (maybe the coaching staff learned what NOT to do with a young QB last year) He played smart and threw it away when he needed to. He made plays when he needed to. He managed the game very well. I thought outside of the offensive line play the O looked very good.

3) In a division with a couple of big physical WR's we have a CB that will match-up well with them. PP looked very good within the scheme (read and react)-pains me to say
We also seen a tall, electric WR of our own emerge. When we open up the offense and throw it down the field we will have Lafell on one side and TT on the other, both demanding over the top coverage and opening up the middle of the field for RB,TE and the slot to work.

4) Tackling and big plays are all things that can be remedied with experience and adjustments. I remember in 07 the same things were said about our defense: they couldn't tackling, Big 12 style of Defense won't work, not aggressive enough. The defense improved and well the rest is history.

5) Its the first game of the year. The opponent has a new system, a new coach. A quality coach that schemed for this game for weeks and months. A very good RB and QB who will give alot of teams problems. We flew half way across the country to knock the rust off.

Good Post!!!

the sad thing is most Rantard have to have doom and gloom! We have rantart complaining about JJ going 11-19 3 td and no ints. After last year if someone would have tol 95% of True tiger fan that JJ would go 11-19 172 yds and 3 td and no ints(by the way 4 out of his 8 incompletions we throw aways, sign of a good, smart QB.) they would have been excited. But we have to unfortunaly here moron on this thread!

Excellent stat... I was wondering about this.
He played very well... Poised and in control, I think they want to bring him along slowly. Understandable with what happened last year to Lee.

And finally, no. 6: Penalties: 3 times for 35 yards. Unbelievable for first game on the road in a hiostile environment. Great job by the coaching staff. I think it forebodes a far more disciplined team (ala Saban era).

Great post
Jake Locker is a solid and a tough match up for any D in its first game, I'm not worried about the D just yet.

We said that last year and it never materialized
We said it the year before that it never materialized

Have we been hiding out game plan for 2+ years now?

Good point. We need a 3rd WR to step up though

We are 102nd in the nation in 3rd down D. We HAVE to improve that.

Locker and Polk are both good players
