Hey, Adam, don't worry about anything yet. If Phil's career is any indication, it'll be many years until Les tanks.

Allyn McKeen was coached at Mississippi State from 1939 to 1948, where he compiled a 65-19-3 record. In 1940, he was named the SEC coach of the year, after leading MSU to its only undefeated season in school history including an oragne bowl win vs Georgetown.
The following were "national champions" that season:
Minnesota: AP, Berryman, Billingsley, Boand, DeVold, Dickinson, Football Research, Houlgate, Litkenhous, National Championship Foundation
Stanford: Helms, Poling
Tennessee: Dunkel, Williamson

But not as good as Allen McKeen of Miss St. Anybody ever hear of this guy. He should have stayed at Miss State!!!

... and yet, he was still only 2-6 against Alabama.
And then Johnny Vaught got Ole Miss going in the late 40's, and MSU didn't beat the Rebels until 1964. Ouch.

I don't think Saban could win with Sabans players at Ole Miss.

ok, seems like Miles did better with Saban's players than Saban did with Saban's players, so go brush your tooth and stfu!

and 3-3 through the last six. Defense must improve, or we're in trouble long-term.

Comparing Les Miles to Paul Bear Bryant!?!? Haha, funniest thing I've seen all day. Delusional doesn't even begin to describe some on this board... I know denial can be tough but let me reiterate... YES, NICK SABAN IS THE HEAD COACH AT ALABAMA. Returning to your 1990's prominence of sub par at best shouldn't be too painful. What was the score late in the 3rd to powerhouse Troy? Oh that's right, 31-3
Delusional is hanging a sign that says "2003 SEC West Champions" where you are supposed to put REAL championship banners and calling yourselves relevant. If LSU wanted to do that, we could have 6 or 7 West Championships by now. We'll just stick to the REAL ones. Have a great day.

You mean your actually happy he is atop a list that has a MSU coach and Fat Phil at the top...
Way to shot for the stars.

Here is the record the year before Bear took over Bama.
2-7-1
Yep. He definitely took over a similar team that Miles did.

McKeen inherited nothing and got MSU its first and only SEC title.
Miles inherited a full cupboard left by a guy who was lured by the NFL.
Fulmer was a "stay the course" hire. History won't remember well when the Majors era ended and when the Fulmer era began.
Stallings cheated. He is recorded as 31-18 in his first 50 games.
Spurrier was the perfect coach at the perfect program at the perfect time.
Richt inherited something a little better than Saban inherited, but nowhere near as good as what Miles inherited.
Meyer inherited a full cupboard from one of the best recruiters in the country (but not a great gamedayer).
Battle inherited a full cupboard at Tennessee; Dickey left on better-than-bad terms to coach at his alma mater.
Bryant took over one of the worst-ever Alabama programs.
Neyland was 45-2-3 in his first 50 games.
Moore inherited a great program and then drove it to mediocrity after four years.
Saban inherited a mediocre program and then giftwrapped a program for Miles.
