Surprised Bert Jones not mentioned much. If you also consider a combination of college and their Pro careers, he has to be in the mix along with Johnny Robinson and Jerry Stovall.

OP said 2nd Greatest LSU Football Player Ever and not if things were different who would be the best.

Casanova but J Rob, different era. May be a tie.

Kevin Faulk. Casanova might have been the slightly better player, but Faulk was more important. Faulk helped make it cool to come to LSU.

it was always cool to come to LSU, Hallman just made it painfully cool

Honey Badger > Cannon
Cannon has only one realllly memorable moment, Honey Badger has too many pick one out as his greatest.
The interception he tipped from the QB against WV where he landed on the 1 yard line?
Or that crazy shite he did against Georgia w/ the punt returns?
What would you even pick??

Nuff said. That's the perfect tie for second easily though I would make the case for 3x AA Casanova at Number 1... Watching him in person beat the ever lovin hell with elbows to the helmut on AA Notre Dame wide receiver Tom Gatewood was UNREAL!

Who won the Heisman over #2 Stovall? Think Stovall got shafted and was really the best player in the country that year. My vote is....
2. Casanova
3. TM7 (best FB player I've seen)
4. Stovall
2. Casanova

4. Stovall

If y'all don't mind an outsider's view.
I saw both Robinson and Cannon and either one is in the conversation. Cannon was both brutally strong and had sprinter speed. Robinson was just silky smooth, an extremely gifted athlete.
As for the racism crap...Robinson had a great pro career and it was all against White AND Black players, so forget that stuff.
BTW, Ted Williams WAS the GOAT.

as far as the segregation issue is concerned, the best argument I ever heard come from an old codger who has been watchin LSU football since the '40s:
"some guys played in a time when there were only white players, this is true..
but the guys that played against black players, ALSO had black players on THEIR side as well, so doesn't it even out?"
argument over

The name you're searching for is Alan Faneca. !3 years in the NFL. Nine years chosen for the pro bowl. Nine years All Pro. The guys he was blocking were black or white. He blocked 'em all. He was the best offensive guard in the league. At one point he was the highest paid offensive lineman in the NFL. Re Kevin Faulk - he was fabulous, but when Cecil Collins came on the team Kevin went to second string until Collins suffered a broken leg. Bert Jones name belongs somewhere on that list. I believe Patrick Peterson will end up on that list too. But not yet.

Patrick Peterson! We all have great answers our answers vary because of the position's we like. It's really hard to compare because of the era's. Sure Billy Cannon is LSU's only
Heisman Trophy winner, but put him in this Era where D-linemen run just as fast as him there's no way he wins it now. Billy Cannon is the most famous Tiger of all time I don't think he's the best. That's just my opinion, if Glen Dorsey doesn't get chop blocked against Auburn he would be in the top 2. Their all Tigers they was all great and I love them all! There really is no wrong answer!
