I see your point there, the man definitely had an impressive pro career as well as collegiate career!

Tm7 is the only other person to get to the heisman finals. So imo he is # 2 by that fact alone

Johnny Robinson - beast on offense and defense
Tommy Casanova - three time All-American
Kevin Faulk - revitalized the program

True, it was a different era lsu2006, but a player like Billy Cannon would have shined in any era
Absolutely. He was an elite sprinter and an elite shot-putter in high school. He was the size of most linemen then.
In the alternative, Cannon's era was before integration, and as you said, just about everyone played both ways. Greatness is defined in different terms now than it was then.

How many black guys did Billy Cannon play against?

Jerry Stovall says hello. Pretty sure that is still the closest Heisman vote ever.

Sorry bro you can't call Cannon the GOAT when he played during segregation. The best players from his era weren't allowed on the field.

ETA: You are basically saying no white person from back in the day. Is it cool to call Jim Brown good? What if Peyton or Joe Montana played back then?

Because I'm right?

He isn't 100% wrong.
It's important to point out, though, that NO ONE in that day played against black players. All you can do is stack Cannon up against players he DID play against. And he was a goddamn animal. It's not his fault segregation was the status quo.
And Cannon was a talent that likely would transcend different eras. He was a special breed of athlete.
