I was confident LSU was a different team than when they played UT earlier in the season. But then Davey went out and you figured it was just a matter of time before the defense simply couldn't hold off Tenn. any longer. Then the game kept going and LSU kept hanging in before eventually taking the lead. The two Tenn. fumbles completely changed the game. The first one led to LSU taking the lead in the 2nd half and the second one led to LSU putting the game away

There was optimism going into the season, but NO ONE saw an SEC championship coming. It was a fun time to be a fan. Winning wasn't EXPECTED at that time. So that championship came as a huge surprise...and joy. The other SEC championships since have been more "relief" than pure joy

The Renaissance really started with the regular season win over UT on 9/30/20.

Oh no doubt, all the home games in 2000 after UAB were a blast, UT, MSU, Bama, Kentucky, and the precursor in the GA Dome against GT. They were also a big part of getting that 01 class that became the foundation of 01 and ultimately 03.

Not to mention plenty of great games in 01, notably the streak of Bama, Arkansas, and Auburn to play our way into Atlanta.

But “Golden Age” starts with hardware, and that was 12/8 against the #2 team in the country fully expecting their invite to go against Miami in the BCSCG.

LSU winning the SEC that night changed college football and it was only a matter of time until our invite was in the mail

I still remember my grandpa cursing the tv when they piled on Davey out of bounds and no flag was thrown. Then the arse chewing my grandma gave him for using that language. Nothing has changed 20 years later.
