Francois stops Lester for no gain.

Why don't we take advantage of his throwing at people's feet. Put our kicker in a WR, when Hatch throws it at his feet, he can kick it down to field to Byrd or Lafell for a big gain.

Yeah, there would be no recovering from that. The game would be virtually over.

Is Lester playing? I thought he was hurt for some reason. Could be wrong

Tuberville's Preview if anyone is interested.

I wouldn't frick around with a neck injury, especially as a RB.

It worked for Franco Harris.

If that is the first play, it will speak volumes about our lack of confidence in the QB. We CANNOT be in predictable passing situations.

So you don't think the team should attempt to establish the run, to possibly open up the pass?

Starting the game with a run up the middle doesn't say shite about your confidence or lack thereof concerning the QB. It's just a simple play to begin establishing the run, which is what we should do always as a first priority on offense. To me, a simple dive on the first play is just like starting tic-tac-toe with an X or O in the center.

If there is one thing I don't see happening with this LSU team is the PASS game opening up the RUN game. We need to be running over 60% of the plays because we have our talent there. If we pass I surely hope it is screen passes. None our QBs have shown they can make great decisions yet. Lee has a better arm but throws into coverage. I hope to see a good bit of option plays from Hatch. If he throws those slow ducks up against the AU D, I expect a lot of unhappy rantards who "wanted to see it aired out to Byrd".

Everyone in the freaking stadium knows that Auburn will be loading up to stop the run. Why not throw a wrinkle at them at the get-go?

Then hit up a bubble screen or something. But as we saw last game, Hatch doesn't even have the bubble screen down. How can you expect him to go over the middle against a fast defense who will eat his ducks alive?

Then we are screwed. AU will put nine the box. If we don't pass, we can't run.

So you assume you can't run before the game has even started and just go ahead and put everything on Hatch? That's backwards.

9??? Not even Tubbs would be stupid enough to let Byrd and Lafell go one on one with his DBs. Then Hatch actually could just duck it up.

Because that little wrinkle could result in a pick-6 right off the bat. How's that for a momentum shift on the road with a young QB. Look for conservative play calling early and often. We'll pick our spots carefully for the bigger plays. Low scoring. Tough D. Gonna be a war. But we can win if we keep it close.
