Depends. When trying to work a pitch count up against Root they won't swing at the first pitch as much. Tonight they probably will be trying to jump on early fastballs as pitch count doesn't really matter

They take the first pitch for several reasons…. 1 is to make the pitcher throw, and just to see arm slot, speed that kind of thing.
