Well, damn Notre Dame even more so. Despite the Ole Miss loss we were still headed to the Cotton Bowl to face Texas until ND messed that up.

Correct.
OM won in Mississippi Memorial Stadium fair-n-square. The ND thing was fertilizer. We would've had a chance to beat eventual national champion Texas but instead didn't go to any bowl.

Yep we go 10 and 0 if not for that game . Our D was great but old Manning beat us with his feet and arm.
