Who the hell really thinks they are going to get this call in the SEC at Ole Miss with 1 second left in the game?
yeah, when tolliver hit the ground there were three seconds left and the refs didn't reset the clock either. (not that it matters - the clock wasn't LSU's demise Saturday, it was bad coaching decisions)

the player being down does not stop the clock - regardless of the time left in the game the ref stops the clock by waving his arms... which can take two seconds. they don't sit there like hawks waiting to stop the clock - they don't hurry or well shouldn't hurry just because the game is almost over.

Again, the clock does not stop instantly once the player is down.

Nahhhh...we lost the game on failure to call time out quick enough, but of course I'm assuming that last pass would have still taken place with the same result.

This.....nothing else matters after the fact that Miles did not call the timeout quickly enough before the Tolliver catch. We SHOULD have had about 15 or 20 seconds on the clock for the Tolliver pass. That pass and catch took about 8 seconds off the clock. The timeout would have allowed for the field goal team to get out there and kick the ball. I think Miles thought the game was over unless we scored a touchdown on the long bomb. But it is ultimately his fault that long pass was the last play.

The smart play would have been for one of the lineman to haul off and fire across the line into a defender before the officials wound the clock. Even at a 15 yard penalty a field goal would have been manageable. And the clock stops with the penalty.
