we have the most "hands on" compliance department in the SEC. Maybe the nation.
We drug test more frequently, hell Shep got a 4 game suspension for just telling Loston that someone was coming to talk to him..
True. I've heard comparisons between our testing and Alabama's and it is significantly different.

i thought Shep got suspended for taking housing money then moving in with his gf?
No, he was interviewd by the NCAA in connection with some investigation or another and then told Loston what types of questions Loston could expect in his imminent session with the NCAA. That's an infraction, apparently. Sorta ridiculous.

Muscona quoted Glenn Guilbeau who allegedly is quoting the compliance office, which is extremely suspicious. They haven't said a word to anyone else, but they're talking to a guy in Shreveport?
Also, as MM pointed out, a third failure is a year long suspension, set in stone, yet TM was at media day and practicing less than a week ago. It takes a fourth test to be permanently ineligible and there just isn't time for that to have happened.

If not more. I've heard LSU was in the 8-10 range while bama is in the 2 range. Wish we were lighter in this day and age.

This was never funny, it's just filling the board and raising your post count.

He was made "permanently ineligible" by the school. The school has the right to make anyone ineligible to play athletics. If he sits out for a year he would be eligible to play at any other university including FBS, not limited to FCS. If he wants to play football in 2012 it will be at FCS or lower level.
THIS. The more I think about it, the more I DON'T want him back. To much distraction. This team will still be VERY good for the next 4-5 years even without TM7.

So in order for TM7 to change his ways.......he has to do it at another school. Even if he sits out a year.
Brilliant
What dumbarse came up with that one.

Glad they stuck to their guns. Might suck to not have him on field but you have to show who has leverage.
Like raising a young child when they test you. DO WHAT YOU SAY YOUR GOING TO DO. Tough Love.
GOOD JOB LES!!

This is why it's so dumb. We're going to allow compliance officials dictate internal football policy when this kid could be eligible to play for every other school in the country? Sounds like Alleva pushing this through the compliance department and it's really unfortunate.
Who said Compliance "made" the decision?
No one did.
The Director of Compliance was asked a question and he answered it. By the way both Miles and Alleva said the same thing last week when asked, that it was permanent and there was no chance he would be back.
Les said it directly in response to a question in the presser there is video of it.
Alleva said same thing and was quoted in several media outlets.
I guess it's possible that something has changed or that Les misunderstood the question or mis answered the question but he clearly said it.

Tyrann Mathieu cannot return to the LSU football team at any time in the future, LSU senior associate athletic director for NCAA compliance Bo Bahnsen reiterated on Monday.
"He's permanently ineligible to play football at LSU," Bahnsen said in a telephone interview Monday afternoon. "That's definite. That's what was said Friday."

The fact that he would be willing to sit out an entire year to play at a better football program would be a significant change for me. I don't know what Miles and Alleva think, but if TM really wanted to sit for an entire year, I think that punishment would be sufficient personally. If he did that, I would understand not forcing him to go to another big name school for 2013. Just me though.

i took that press conference as meaning it's a permanent kick off.
does not mean he can't be put back on another year.
