I bet you were one of the ones who scoffed at the idea of hiring Lincoln Riley. Explains so much.

I’m not going back that far, but you were probably one of the guys pushing for Aranda to be hired as HC over O.

No doubt. Hell I'm pushing for it now.

What do you have against coaches that know how to coach up one side of the ball? You seem to have a strong disdain for them.

Dude, our D-line was paper-thin last year. Of course we struggled against the run.

Don't try to reason with morons using facts. They just want to be emotional and yell into the void.

I love Dave Aranda but if he gives up 74 points again then yeah.

2.5 million is a shite load of money. Earn it. Prove us right.

Just FYI. Shape up or ship out. I always preferred to play an attacking defense. My HS coach, Ted Davidson taught a read and react defense, but I always preferred attacking and getting into the backfield. LSU needs to do more of this. It can be a gamble, so a coach needs to have a good idea what the offense is going to do.

Ok. His defensive had 7 opportunities to stop them. They didn’t. He’s not immune to criticism. We were 7th in scorning defense of I’m not mistaken. Not exactly setting the world on fire. If E is gonna catch heat for the goose eggs vs Bama then Aranda should too for the 74 points vs A&M.

Exactly, no one should be immune from criticism, I have great respect for Aranda, probably more so now after hearing the way he handled criticism from a coaching buddy. He aired it for all of us to know. Think about that for a minute. Aranda fears nothing yet wants to know everything, absolutely no ego. Amazing!

Weird. Aranda earned it.

Nothing is out of whack.

To a degree. But Goldie has a point though, we had no choice but to overpay...he was the centerpiece of the coaching staff and program as a whole

We didnt overpay which is the point.

The top 8 assistants in pay are all DCs, all over 1.5 million and three over 2 million.

DCs are at a premium compared to OCs.

Find who you want, but it's going to cost you

So Aranda's the fall guy because one game he gave up 74 points in a 7 OT game.

But the offense has no fall guy for 19 points vs UF, 0 points vs Bama for the second time in three seasons, and numerous other pathetic showings in the past couple of years?

But Aranda's the fall guy?

This is what I'm talking about. A completely different set of standards.

He's done his job. If we had even an average offense we make the playoffs last season.

30s in the country in total defense is shite for the highest pay in the country.

I don't get this fixation with his pay.

If the powers that be (Alleva and the coach) didn't think he was worth it they should've let him walk to A&M. He wasn't the best DC when they gave him the money, so why were they paying him top money if he wasn't the best DC? That doesn't make any sense.

Your ire is misplaced. It's not like he went to them and demanded a pay raise. Someone else was willing to give him more money and LSU matched. He got paid because they didn't want to lose them, which is the smartest thing they could've done. Between the two of those guys I doubt they could find someone half as good as Aranda.

If he'd gone to them and demanded a pay raise you guys would have a point but that's not at all what happened.

If Brady works out, and I have a strong sense he will, LSU will have two of the top coordinators in the country. Now how long LSU is able to keep both is a different matter.

Not really. It wasn't a great year but it's top 25%
He'll earn that money this year.
