How do you leave off the most versatile player, arguably, in LSU basketball history? The only 6'8" guy who could play any position (and did) on the court for the Tigers.
Plus, he won SEC Tourney MVP and LSU didn't even make the finals!
Leaving off him and Nikita Wilson...awful on LSU's part. John Williams was every bit as talented as Brandon Bass
The All Century team should have been 25 players. One major player every four years is about par.
There should be room for John Williams, Derrick Taylor, Dick Maile, Ronald Dupree, Ronnie Henderson, Kenny Higgs, Maurice Carter, Glen Hansesn and Ed Palubinskas.

I don't say this much, but I agree with tiger20 100 percent. If Maurice Carter had played with someone better than Willie Anderson and the nobodies, he would have gone down as one of the greatest Tigers of all time.

The most impressive thing about Maurice Carter is that when Brady arrived and LSU was under NCAA investigation with sanctions looming he could have easily found a lot of big time players willing to take him in. Instead he stayed and played with Willie Anderson, Chico Potts, Cedric Carter, Dejuan Collins, and others and still manged to be one of the best players in the SEC.
I alwayys thought it was unfortunate that his eligibility ended one year too soon and he did not get to play on the 2000 team which went to the Sweet 16.
I believe Kentucky hung the jerseys of Pelphrey and Feldhaus and others who stayed during theeir probation years in the early nineties.

I get what you're saying, tiger20 and think fan perception has more to do with it than anything.
I bet that if you polled 100 random people in the PMAC (non students), that 10-15 of them would be able to tell you about Maurice Carter...even tell you who he was and what he did.
Carter's jersey hangs not in the PMAC because of the dark years. LSU's not about to hang the jersey of a player (and lose another number forever) who played in front of a 4 year average crowd of 7,500 and a 4 year average of 12-15 wins.
As you alluded to, it would have been nice to have seen Carter play on the 2000 team. I think he would have made Lamont Roland one helluva 6th man. I also though, had he given a shite, DeJuan Collins could have been a good point guard for his entire duration at LSU.
In a nutshell, Carter was the only superstar we had during the terrible years of '97-'99. Ronnie Henderson was the same from '93-'96, but you will find far more people who know Ronnie because of the fact that sanctions had not hit and the program was not far removed at all from regular NCAA Tournament trips.
