If LSU wins the SEC and goes to the Sugar Bowl, the Sugar Bowl could theoretically pick USC as their at large selection. But the Sugar Bowl will be one of the last to pick their at large team since other bowls lose their auto tie in to the BCSCG.

Exactly. USC wouldn't drop to the last at-large pick. If USC goes to a BCS game, it will likely be the Fiesta Bowl who would take them first to replace Texas. The Sugar Bowl is going to be stuck with another SEC team vs another mid major (or possibly Cincy) team for the third straight year.

i gotcha. well it would be nice. I guess the only way they ever meet is to schedule a home and home or both in the title game

So, how is it that the Sugar Bowl will get the last at-large pick 3 straight years?

if we beat bama and then bama loses again, and then we lose to UF in the SECCG, there may be a chance

2007 - They used the first at large pick due to losing LSU on Georgia. So they didn't get to pick again until the end and took Hawaii.

2008 - Same thing with losing Florida, taking Bama with the first pick, and ending up at the end of the list and taking Utah.

2009 - They would get LSU as the SEC champ, and two other bowls would get to pick before them. The Sugar wouldn't get the last pick in this scenario, but they wouldn't pick early enough to get a team like USC.

0% chance Alabama loses to Mississippi State or Auburn.
