Ridley could've held the ball and JJ kick a FG! They were already on the field and right there.

The second the ball is caught, the coach slaps the kicker on the arse and says win this one for us. Setup for a longer snap/placement and do no step off. Stand right next to where the ball is going to be placed and just standing kick it. Easily done. Takes the same amount of time as lining up to spike it, and the 10 yard placement instead of 7 makes it impossible to block. Kicker puts it through from 30 with no problem.

its real easy if you don't wait 17 seconds to call a timeout after 3rd down
This was by far the biggest blunder of the game. Coaches had no clue what was going on, and thats why they lost!

My problem is what happened on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and after 3rd.
Miles called a Hail Mary pass that was supposed to either be a TD or the end of the game.
In the video posted, Purdue was obviously playing for that FG setup.
It's easy for all of the Monday morning QBs (coaches) to talk about the FG team being ready, but it wasn't supposed to be short. Somebody should've considered that, but it didn't happen and then they were screwed.
See Chicken's thread about 1st and 10 on the 32.
This is where I think Miles and co. really screwed it up, along with the timeout.

Either way its irrelevant if the pass should have gone to the endzone. A competent coach prepares for every foreseeable eventuality and a hail mary falling short is clearly foreseeable.

1 second but if the field goal team was ready they would have been lined up by the time the ref placed the ball.
