Go thru reads, then run if you need to. But Keep drawing them in with the threat of the pass while you're running. Pump fake etc.
Yes that would be ideal. But he's in the red zone and they're trying to avoid turnovers in the red zone. So he went through his reads and then he committed to the run.

Only negative play on that drive was his attempt to outrun the defense outside, instead of throwing it into the stands.

Yeah, its not that he tucks it and runs, which is absolutely fine. Its the scrambling around and trying to outrun the defense.
Scrambling around is great, if its with the intent of finding a reciever, not to just take off with head down
