OK, I shall change it up. Independant of where they are from, no other future recruiting implications, would you rather have a top rated safety or top rated DT in this class? (I'm not saying Quay is top rated)

If I didn't need one or the other, it would definitely be an elite DT.

Quay is going to be in Starkville for the third time this summer this Friday for our Big Dawg Camp.

He hasnt been anywhere else. I highly doubt he goes to LSU, you guys are thinking too much. Quay hasn't said anything in any article I have read that leads me to believe he is going anywhere other than Starkville.

In our current situation safety. We very stout on the line and very thin in the secondary. Also it should be noted that if you look back on rivals top players over the years, you see more DB's that pan out than DT's. Its much easier to evaluate safety's than DT's.

Collins could probably play every position in our secondary, in a pinch. He could also play at linebacker, RB, and special teams.

Quay= DT or he could go the Davenport route.

Collins would be the safer and probably more valuable guy.

Bingo.

Even if he sucks as a DB, he would be an all american LB.

agreed as prospects but i believe DT to be a much more important position. especially at LSU where DB play has almost never been a problem over the past decade.

I know this post was made just to generate discussion, but I don't accept the premise of the question, which is that it would be necessary to choose between Collins and Evans, or any other legit DT prospect. I'm pretty sure we need both and would take both. So, no need to debate it.
