Would Sumlin to USC hurt or help our '14 class?

Part of me thinks we'd gain from some of the possible Aggie leans, but the other part thinks the splash he'd make going to USC could hurt us(and others) with some big name players. I realize USC can only sign 19 this year.

this would hurt aTm therefore help us in recruiting.

If he leaves for USC it will be after aTms bowl game giving him very little time to make a splash in recruiting.
Would definitely help but Aggies aren't getting anyone we want from LA anyway

I seriously doubt it. Who are you talking about with this one? The only ones I could think of is Speedy, Willis, and Brown. They would not go that far away from home. I'm sure all 3 will be at LSU regardless of what Sumlin does.

Sumlin to USC is pie in the sky thinking. I'm sure they want Nick Saban, too.

We need to help ourselves with recruiting.

USC has enough talent within 25 miles of campus to stock a program. They'll occasionally try to poach someone from Louisiana (McKnight) but you wouldn't see Sumlin around here much. He wouldn't need to.

We generate significantly more revenue than usc and the gap will be much larger after 2015 (new stadium and suites). Usc is not going to land sumlin or strong or anybody that already makes over 3 million.

How about this?
Sumlin to USC
Saban to UT
Dabo to UA
ATM and Clemson open for...
Regardless of what happens with the above, the coaching carousel will be VERY interesting after this season.

I wouldn't mind taking Myles Garret from them.

That's what I'm screaming. USC is still one of the best jobs in the country.

better than A&M

Sumlin to USC would not hurt or help our 14' class unless a few A&M recruits jump ship because he leaves and we become frontrunners.
15' would help us in that A&M should be less of a factor, as someone posted above, USC and LSU every now and then are in a recruiting "battle" but it is rare and for one major guy.

I see sumlin to the nfl being a much more realistic possibility.
He may want to strike while the iron is hot.

USC is still on probation and will have 55 scholarships next season.
Sumlin has built A&M into a winner overnight, they have tons of money (more than USC) and they are building a half a billion dollar stadium.
Here are the records for the coaches at USC in the last 30 years:
Ted Tollner (1983-1986) 26-20-1
Larry Smith (1987-1992) 44-25-3
John Robinson (1993-1997) 37-21-2
Paul Hackett (1998-2000) 20-17
Pete Carroll (2001-2009) 83-19
Lane Kiffin (2010-2012) 25-13
Pete Carroll's time there was the exception, not the rule over the past 30 years.
Cost of living in LA is much higher than College Station, TX. Texas has no state income tax, while California has the 2nd highest. Property values in California are significantly higher. Sumlin would probably have to get paid an extra 30+% on top of his salary just to sustain his standard of living in LA.
As much as it would be good for our recruiting for Sumlin to leave, I think he will only do so for the NFL.. and even that is a question mark to me.

As much as aTm hates to admit it, they will be the second school in the state behind Texas. Always! They lucked up with Manzel, but I'm not sure they can sustain that type of recruiting and winning. Then where is he left? He's basically in the South Carolina of the SEC West.
In USC he is at the top dog school of California at a program that can truly recruit nationally. And Hayden will stick with him because he will be his guy. Kiffin was hired before he got there.
