this could actually work in our favor. he now has an offer from another top teir SEC school, BUT Bama CANNOT offer immediate playing time. we can draw up a direct comparison of team caliber and throw in that he can play immediatly for us.
i know this has probably been mentioned before but METT could be the biggest get for us in a long time.

Why can't they offer him immediate playing time?
They can offer it just as much as we can...

Nick Saban can and will offer whatever it take sto get a kid to sign the papers.

If he beats out McCarron and whoever else they have, he can play immediately. And McElroy is a senior this year.

I don't ever see Bama going after a player you want as a good thing.
This is obviously gamesmanship between Saban trying to get into Miles head.

Bama has McCarron and Phillip Sims; 2 blue chip recruits he'd be competing with. At LSU, zero competition. Hopefully, the kid is smart enough to realize the trAitor is using him as a pawn to keep him off LSU's roster.
Saban is trying to tear down what he built.

I'm not sure if that is a wise decision

Its obviously a Classic case od addition by subtraction.
$abun is just trying to prevent LSU from getting this kid. Metts family has to see the bama offer as what it is B.S.
Bear Bryant did this shite all the time or he would send a player to bowden at FLA ST. just to prevent them from being in the SEC.
With the age of the internet I dont see that kind of crap working.

According to many on here, there apparently is a lot of space in there.

What I worry about with Mettenburger is that he should have committed already. Maybe he was waiting for that offer from another school who has a QB coach which now opens the door for that very thing with Bama.

He hasn't visited yet, it would be dumb on his part to commit without visiting the school.

why? He's got no reason to commit already, especially since his season is done Nov 14 at the very latest.

Maybe he is waiting to be sure we get a new offensive coordinator

Obviously Sabes doesn't have a ton of confidence in McCarron. I don't blame him either. I thought he was terribly overrated..not only did he not look like a bluechip, he looked pretty shitty, imo

Metteberger will never set foot on campus at LSU.
You clowns are deluding yourselves if you think otherwise. I wouldn't be surprised if another SEC school besides Alabama or other big school from another conference offers him as well. QBs like him, even with some baggage, will get offers.
LSU is a QB graveyard and most legit QBs know it. What is it, 7 years since Saban signed Flynn/Russel? Nothing since then except T.C McCartney, Barret Baily, Jordan Jefferson, plus a few other non-factors who can't be coached up and move to other positions or end up transferring. The only supposedly legit QB signed has been Jarret Lee. This may or may not turn out well, but so far he's only been MARGINALLY SUCCESSFUL.
This is the single most damaging aspect to the Miles era - notwithstanding 'cuckoo' clock management. Until there is a legit QB under center this year and last will be the norm under Miles.

You have to be kidding me, right? So you say we've signed no QB recruits, then say it's a graveyard. It's a graveyard cuz our recruits haven't worked out! RP had off field issues, Chris Garrett was lazy as shite, JL/JJ both have their own issues and weren't like John Elway coming out anyway.
Jamarcus Russell was the #1 overall pick, and he was recruited by Saban but played mostly for Miles.
