why not?
It's really quite simple. This was our second Jr. day...All the young men that have desired to commit early after receiving an offer have done so. All those that are playing the recruiting game, feeding on all the attention, or genuinely haven't made up their mind, but are still very interested in LSU aren't ready to verbally commit.
I suspected this as the 1st Jr. Day was not that long ago...but I too was hoping someone would pull the trigger.
The best we can hope for now is at the camps in June and July. We should get 4-5 commits between now and the end of July. That will put us in the 13 to 14 range. After that, it appears that guys like Rasco and Robinson may keep us waiting until February before they commit to LSU.
If we land the top 13 to 16 prospects in state, we will be in the top 3 of the national rankings for recruiting on National Signing Day (NSD). However, we will not go into NSD having all the top LA propects locked up. It is going to be down to the wire, in my opinion, for Rasco...the #3 best player in LA and #2 best DE in the country.
Oh well, that is my take on it...

I read that Gregory was close to commiting while he was there. And the Klein Oaks duo really enjoyed them sevles.

Robinson's getting very close to committing...don't think we'll have to sweat that one out.

So there's no way anyone new got an offer this past weekend?

I don't know, but it surely is a possibility with the 2011 class expected to be small and around 20 total commits unless we have significant attrition between now and February. Right now, there is no significant attrition (other than seniors) unless we see 5 plus transfers in combination with possible disciplinary dismissals.
It is a possibility (that no new offers got extended over the weekend) as well, in combination with the fact that...no one committed...right?
But, yes...there could have been offers made, there is a way, but we don't know unless someone who did not have an offer before commits or does an interview with one of the recruiting sites.
However, as of right now...we don't know of any new offers over the weekend. It appears Miles and Co. are being very selective with in state offers as this will probably be a small class. It looks like we are going after a lot of great big fish outside of LA beyond the 15 offers we have made so far in state.
So it is highly possible that no new offers were made over the weekend...we should know soon after some interviews come out.

Klein Oak TE Max Stevenson received a new offer.

Ok...great...but, again...the LSU staff is being very selective and not an abundance or proliferation of new offers...which generate commits on the spot...my point still stands!

How big of fish are we talking about in order to spurn the local legends?

There were a couple of big names that didn't come to the 1st junior day that we were looking forward to hearing from after the spring game. If we didn't get any commits, it's a little disappointing. It may not be your typical junior day, but we still had alot invested in the possibilities that someone would commit. Especially since some of the guys missed our 1st junior day because they went to Bama's. Just my 2 cents worth.

Yes we all want to see some new commits (red meat for the hungry recruiting animals). But, take a step back and smell the roses...
LSU is not UT. In this class, we have the largest number of highly rated LA kids commit this early in LSU recruiting history (gross number and by talent level).
We have made 15 offers in LA to the best kids in the coaches’ opinion (experts), as opposed to guys that don't get paid to recruit, sign, and coach up the talent.
With this small of a class, if we make offers beyond these 15, sign lesser talent, then the others that are not currently committed will have to go out of state because LSU will not have a spot for them.
Thus, it is stupid, foolish, and unwise to issue offers to LA kids that are not better than the LA kids we have already offered.
So your comment:

is short sighted and more out of frustration that we have not gotten verbal commits from the likes of Robinson, Rasco, Slive, M. Johnson, Q. Thomas, Beckham, and Thomas on this second Jr. Day.
Take a deep breath, be patient...we have 10 months to go...the uncommitted big time LA kids want to be part of top recruiting class and play for LSU..., but they are on their own time frame...not recruiting fanatics like us who want to see 18 commits in Mar. & Apr. like the University of Texas. Hell, even Florida and USC don't have 18 commits already and LSU is ahead of both in quantity and quality.

I don't buy into this philosophy...and you can't project every potential superstar from in state that blows up in college. The coaches have been very good at keeping the fence around LA.
Lastly, the out of state offers LSU has made are to better talent than what is in LA beyond the 15 offers in state that LSU has already made. And, out of state kids are much less likely to commit quickly when they are top talent. Thus, we usually sign out of state guys that are better than what we passed over in LA. That's Saban and Miles track record as long as I have been following recruiting.

All very true, but my point of "they're not ready...even if we (recruiting junkies) are" is valid.
Most of the ones you are talking about have lived in LA their whole life and have been to at least one LSU camp.
We can't kid or delude ourselves...they know LSU and they know where the want to play football in college. It's probably LSU for almost every one, but they simply are not ready even if we are hungry for red meat in March (verbal commits from top LA talent).
Your 2 cents are exemplary of how most of us feel. I wanted red meat too, but we all were disappointed.
