I disagree, I think we will see a system with Mett and Randall very similar to Flynn and Perriloux.

Lions share to Mett, but not a single QB system.

One good pocket QB with LSU's running game is all this team needs.

Never unestimate the unexpected and unforseen as regards LSU.

There is nothing wrong with a good dual-threat QB. It's just how you use them. Call more plays that spread the ball around and give him the option to take off if it isn't there, that's it.

The problem with a dual threat system is you limit the touches of your other playmakers.

100% agree. The problem with using JJ as dual threat was three fold: 1) not very good passing 2) decent runner but not stellar 3) less touches for Ware, Ford, Hilliard, and Blue.

20 rushes split b.w the RBs became 20 rushes with 13 split between the RBs and 7 ran by the QB

Considering we have 5 open spots, I'd take Liggins without thinking about it. Who cares if he never makes it as QB? He has versatility in us signing him. He could end up on the line too...

Roaad, You have to take 1 QB with every signing class plain and simple. This is why you take Liggins.

a one qb system huh. by chance is this guy considered a "dual threat qb" ? please say it ain't so

why yes, it is so. but look at the bright side. he fits perfectly into our game planning, and is probably being told by miles he might actually get to play as a freshman due to that fact. starting to ring any bells ?

Lots of good chatter in this thread with varying opinion. I like it. The poster that had the post about dual threats being a good thing if used correctly is right. They are an advantage if the right plays are called and the qb is an actual true dual threat. I don't think JJ was a true dual threat. He wanted to be a passer but couldn't pass well enough. He also struggled his entire career running the option correctly. The zone read? Not even worth running with JJ. He never read, he just kept the ball and ran every time. He was not a good decision maker either by choice or because he just wasn't capable of reading the end. A true zone read needs a qb that can make quick decisive decisions based on the end. The good ones are very effective and are a playmaker in the same vein as a good rb. Tebow and Cam Newton were weapons as runners and good zone read qbs are as well just not as good as Cam and Tebow. Hopefully we land one of those at some point. Randall is ideal as is Liggins but we won't know if they are good at the reads until we see them in action.
