Why is it so hard for RBers to accept new posters, even with crazy questions?

I'm sure I have dogged a newb who asked an old or stupid question in the past, but why can't RBers respond kindly and educate new posters instead of dogging them? None of you would act like this in real life. Why is it acceptable on a message board?

Like any of you ever read the board guidelines before posting...

Edited so as not to hijack a discussion

I rarely posted on this board until recently, just lurked it a lot, and no one gave me any shite when I started to post on this board a lot.

im pretty sure it depends on content, whether you are a newb or veteran poster.

Lots of them ask stupid questions that have already been asked a ton of time.

dumb posts are dumb posts, regardless of post count IMO. when people come in here with well thought first posts, they get commended. when they have shitty first posts, they get bashed. it is what it is

When I first started posting on TD.com, asking questions about recruiting and whatnot, no one ever gave me any grief, except Prom asking me what I was wearing from time to time not sure what the OP is referring to

If it's a legit question, I'll answer kindly

But when they bring up stuff we've been talking about ad nauseum or just straight say stupid shite, then they deserved to be made fun of.

Right of passage. Been that way for a while here, and on other boards as well.

A new guy will take some shite for a recently asked or repeatedly covered question, but after a few jabs the question is usually answered.

Also, recruiting is VERY prone to "germans" and sometimes you just cant answer a question for the 68th time.

I'll give an example of the St Aug thread and the crutchfield comment. All of you know damn well you believed the crutchfield hearsay until recently, yet now old dude posting is made to be a dumbass because he isn't up to speed.

Depends on the question...if it's on the first page especially, then they are dumbasses and should be called out for it.

Even when I first started, I knew to search first.
