I wish we were getting Dom (Davis) Williams in this class and not Dom Allen, not knocking Allen, but Davis was legit.

This thread would have been so much shorter if you would have only said Basketball. I think it would have started and stopped with Randy Livingston

From LSU: Jimmy Taylor

glad to see someone mentioned this man. chose to do a report on him as a wikipedia entry (its not up....yet) and was blown away on what this man did at LSU, Green Bay, and in New Orleans. there is a reason they named a street after him.

Best in the Pros:

M. Faulk
J. Taylor

One in the HOF & the other will be.

Best in college:

J.D. Crow
B. Cannon

Both Hesiman winners.

Best in Louisiana HS Football:

Bobby Ray Tell

The kid was simply amazing. I bet he averaged less than 20 carries a game for a team that only ran the ball. I think his career average was like 15 yards per carry.

Gary James - West Jeff

He was awesome in high school. Dalton Hilliard beat him out at LSU.

And another senior moment for me. I don't even really know Dominic(k)Allen - That's what happens when you change your name.

Injuries killed what I thought was going to be an outstanding pro career. I thought Dom would return some punts, and maybe play special teams/third down back, even if Houston upgraded to a better feature back. Shame really, but RBs only average about 4 or 5 years, anyway. Dom (Davis) Williams was a great all-around football player.

If anything, it's a testament to the legend of Billy Cannon as to why Jimmy doesn't get the accolades from the Tiger Nation that he might deserve (and he gets alot.) The fact that Cannon was right behind him, led LSU to a very successful rebirth, and won the Heisman explains most of it. Cannon being an even larger than life figure than Taylor is another.

Taylor was an amazing running back, though. I didn't pick Cannon as "best" because, ultimately he made his pro mark at other positions, particularly TE.

Dubroc was a linebacker. Did he play running back at Curtis?

JJ27 ... with all due respect to those great WM teams, that 1990 Ruston High team is IMO the greatest high school team in Louisiana history. I had the opportunity to watch them that season while in school at Tech. They had incredible talent on that team. If I recall, they had about 9 or 10 players sign Division I-A scholarships.
