It seems scouting has gotten more spotty post COVID. Maybe fewer camps, fewer scouts at games now relying on highlight film. It just seems the disparity from services is wider.

Bingo. Trust Kelly and the staff’s evaluations over the sites. Scouts are more spread out as well since On3 started. Sites don’t have the same amount of guys dedicated to each area. Arch Manning being ranked 1 should tell you all you need to know - their priority is to make money.

Ratings on these sites are driven by offers and team fan subscribers. No college program is looking to steal away these sites "rankers" because of their acumen with evaluating prospects.

I don’t trust either.

I just look at the offers a player has to tell me whether he is legit or not

Excellent point. If anyone employed by these sites was seen as having an incredible eye for assessing talent, they’d immediately be headhunted by a top university.

On3's first rankings were for the 2021 class. Those are your redshirt sophomores and true juniors for the upcoming college football season. After the season, identify where On3 differed from the other services and see how those prospects performed.

eta Quick glance and I see an On3 win. On3 had Marvin Harrison Jr as the #3 WR in his class. Good chance Harrison is the first non-QB selected next April and 24/7 had him as the #21 WR prospect in his class!

Shannon Terry’s business plan of essentially doing the exact same thing every decade with a new company confuses me.

Has probably made him very wealthy. To me, it’s obvious that he builds up a site, sells out to a big name (rivals to yahoo, 247 to cbs, etc), waits out his noncompete, rinse repeat.
