I will agree with that.
The confusion happens now that Perkins has taken over a linebacker/nickel role. It eliminates a need for a db style of nickel for the moment. We’d hope that Atkins, braithwaite or singleton could fill that role but who knows.
But if we are talking about just having 4 dbs on the field, then I can see where having 21 players is more than five per.

Okay, now take the macro view:
Specialists = 4 to 5 depending on if Ramos is on scholarship (Ramos, Dibert, Burrell, Todd and Roy)
leaves 80 spots.
19 to DBs, leaves 61 spots.
14 on DL leaves 47 spots.
9 at LB leaves 38 spots left for the offense.
We will have 6 TEs leaving 32 spots.
3 QBs leaving 29 spots.
6 Running Backs 23 spots.
10 WR leaving 13 spots for the 16 - 17 OL on the roster.
Hence, why I stated 19 or 20 DB are 3 to 4 over optimal level.
ETA: Also think that 10 is too few WRs to carry on the roster.

Kelly will have us at 85. Some will portal in and some will portal out, but we will hopefully sooner or later get to 85 again.

Curious how man high school players are or can we take?? Would much rather build from High school kids than the portal!

My exact thought as well, and why I included 2 of Arkansas's top 3 commits. Charleston Collins final 2 was us and Arky.
