Aaliyah Hobbs was winning everything. And Kamaria Brown was a couple of years from graduation.

I think us express was just starting up around then. We've grown fast. Got 4 branches now
Sbr jags are probably the biggest local competition we saw this year.

Someone told me that sbr jags are basically the same kids that use to go run for KY. Sbr Jags was started right when Tre was around 8 years old to compete against the SBR Rams.

Ahhh. They are a really big outfit, that would make sense.
They've got some of the better talent in the city.
I really like the way to Baton Rouge teams are starting to check grades. Doesn't matter the age, if you don't get your grades right, no competing.

That all started when Leroy Hollins took over the football program for BREC almost 10 years ago.

Been in Baton Rouge since 1999. When you have been here for so long and coached and trained a great deal of the kids that are now college eligible in BR you become a fan. I've only had one player play for LSU that I was involved with and that's Kavarha Holmes which he should have stayed with track. Kamaria Brown is running at Texas A&M. Didn't coach Garrett Brumfield he was with the BR Gators after I left. Only coached Dylan Moses in track for about 3 years and he went and played football with BR Bears which was a great organization.

Cool. We got involved with track and stuff this past year. Love it!

Bro enjoy it. Definitely was a great experience and good foundation for my kids.

If you still run in the same circles, we'll run into each other one day.

I'll agree that most kids enjoy the attention that accompanies the recruiting process. That being said, I honestly don't understand why people say that just because a kid is from Louisiana, he should have "loyalty" to his home state and play for LSU. Is it that difficult to understand that an 18 year old kid might want to explore a place outside of their home state? My parents encouraged me to leave my home state for college and I don't think that makes them bad parents. It's good to step outside your comfort zone. I may be in the minority here, but I hope Cam succeeds at Alabama (except for when he plays against us). Same goes for Speedy and Gerald at A&M and Florida. They wanted to see what's outside of Louisiana, yet people still continue to beat a dead horse by basically saying, "the kids who don't choose LSU lack state pride." We didn't go 5 for 5 but who cares? We got the kids who want to be here.

We'll there are 10 pages at least of everyone calling him a phony and a handler and everything else in the books.

This thread turned into a fricking circus. Thanks a lot, Jimmy

I'm going to add to this thread by throwing in OJ Smith who is an in-state guy that chose bama last season
: OJ Smith
OJ is obviously not part of the 5for5 group, but I thought I could tell you about his decision since most get upset about the fence coming down and especially in state guys who leave for bama. I spoke with his mom and she said most of their family is from Alabama. He was raised watching them. This is not a case where Saban out recruited us and stole a big guy right out of our back yard. Like the OP said there is always a story and it's not just as simple as we didn't do everything right to get a guy. ??
On a side note OJ is already going to need shoulder surgery.
