Davis would be here had we won the game, or even played them close enough to give us a shot to win the game.

LOL. That is quite funny. The kid just played LSU and used that as an excuse.

No, I'm saying the it should just be that much easier since the kid grew up in the hotbed of LSU football. The hard part should be a Saban coming in here and turning him RED. Les has the EASY task not the hard one.

Fair enough. But we all know that it doesn't turn out that way with every kid.

Maybe miles and staff have been resting on their laurels.

They will have to work harder next year. Tennessee and bama were relentless this year

Anyone that does not believe that the way Miles coached the championship game did not have a huge impact on this recruiting class has their head in the sand, IMHO.

Losing one game typically would have little impact. Losing the way we did, with a coach that displayed unparalleled stubborness definitely cast a pall over the players and the fanbase.

Miles' unwillingness to accept any credit for his decisions in that game, and his insistence that the players did not execute his sound game plan made the problem much worse.

All that being said, we just signed a bunch of very good football players, and the future is really bright. I am hopeful that Miles will never coach another game that can justifiably be criticized by almost every pundit and fan. I also hope that we never again see Miles put his feelings for a single player above the responsibility he has to his entire program

It's very possible that we couldn't 'cut a few corners' due to probation.

The NCG did not have a bearing on anyone of the 3 players going OOS because they are all defensive players and the LSU DEF was not the problem so please stop with the NCG excuses what about the 100 or so teams that didn't make the NCG some of them are recruiting quite well.

to ensure the top 3 players in the state signed with LSU?
Same thing they should have done in the BCS game.

Anything.

All that and all you did was basically repeat yourself in that entire thesis.

So you're going to blame the coaches for something that you have no idea what went down and what was said.

Got it.

At least we know you're realistic and will take every possibility into consideration before blaming the coaching staff.

No, you want to absolve the staff for a recruiting failure by arguing that there was NOTHING that the coaches could have done to change the outcome. Let's be honest, that's the entire point of this thread and the entire point of the position that you've taken up. After all, if there was nothing to be done, then no one could be fairly criticized.

My point is twofold. First of all, you can't say that NOTHING would have changed the outcome, because you don't know the process and can't verify that everything was done properly or done well. That's just the truth. Second of all, recruiting is a skill. If we lost Collins, it's much more likely that we lost him because we were simply outrecruited by another staff than that he had some inalterable, instrinsic love for Alabama. The latter position is silly.

In sum, when the staff recruits well and secures the borders of the state, they deserve credit, because that is a product of skill and not luck. Conversely, when the staff loses top instate players, they deserve to be criticized, because that outcome is also a product of lack of skill, and not luck. But what you cannot do is claim, on the one hand, that the coaches deserve CREDIT when we recruit well - as if it were a reflection of talent and skill, and then simultaneously claim that the staff bears NO responsibility for recruiting failures - as if it were simply a reflection of vague misfortunes.
