Like Mo Claiborne the 3 star? Or Tyrann Mathieu the last minute four star? Or Jalen Mills and Jalen Collins the three stars? Who cares what some bozos rate them?

Tough crowd.

I agree, it’s strange not being the lead for a 5*/ top 50 CBs.

But, there’s good reason. 4 of our 5 best CBs are here for at least 2 more years. So any CB we sign this year probably won’t see the field for 2 years.

#1- D Stingley - Soph, Beast Monster

#3- C Flott - Soph, universally accepted
that he exceeded expectation in 2019. Will start at CB2 or Nickel.

#4- J Ward - Soph, good experience last year, played well. Will get much more PT this year.

#5 Ricks - 5* Freshman, will have to compete well to even see the field this year in front of the others above. And, when he does, in 2022 maybe, it’s his spot for 2 more years.

Plus there are at least 2 more Freshmen with potential.

That puts a Freshman in this year’s class at 6th in rotation this year, at best, and probably for 2 years because our young guys are that good.

The coaches know it and the recruits know it. LSU Defensive backfield is set for 2 years.

(You got all the replies though, because this all would be known, right? But it is an anomaly since we usually aren’t this deep and so young at the same time.)

Okay, sorry for whatever I did to piss off the board, but it looks like we have one top CB possibility for '21.
I'm just used to a much better outlook.

well you spoke the truth. No one around here, including myself, wants to hear unfortunate truths.
Usually, LSU is in on 2 or 3 top cornerbacks and we get one of them. Our best bet this year is a player for whom we have no "crystal balls". This is not normal and certainly not what we expected after a near perfect national championship year.
You just need to examine what the posters who responded angrily are saying and why. With Ohio State getting a commitment from a Cornerback ranked in the top 10 in Louisiana in 2022 does not make them happy.
Hell, I am not happy about it either, but you can not make kids want to come to LSU. We have 7 or 8 real offers out to LA kids and have commitments for only 2.
Who would have believed that?

All of LSU’s CBs are underclassmen. There are other needs the team has to address this cycle (OL, DL, and Safeties).

We have only 6 CB on the roster. Depending on the lineup we play as many as 3 of these guys at a time. What the heck happens if we have a couple injuries? Do you really think 6 CBs are enough?

That’s what’s happening. Also we’re in it for 5* Mckinstry this year and stacking safeties like hot cakes.

That would be the SWEETEST STEAL EVER to give Saban and Gus a crap flavored lollipop to suck on!

Here’s a quick link for these youngsters to check out the RIDICULOUS 200+ offers LSU has extended

Never saw 200+ offers extended ! Anyone ?

I didn't say LSU wasn't going to get a CB this cycle; I said CB is not a priority. All you need is 6-8 quality scholarship CBs on the roster, LSU currently has 7 if you include KVJ.

Anything more than that other teams will start to negative recruit the CB depth.

LSU will sign a cb or 2. Might not get the superstar or maybe we get the one. Sage Ryan is being looked at as a cb by our staff supposedly.

If this pandemic would die down and kids can take visits we’d have a better feel for more prospects. Not That many in LA or our typical pipeline of TX. Plenty of safeties out here.

ETA I think we take a “go big or go home” approach this year at CB. McKinstry or bust. If we bust we’ll add a depth guy or under the radar guy like Ward or Flott and hope they blow up into a starter type like Fott did.

Not to pike on but, we're loaded and only room for 1 or 2. We will be fine. We have the #1 guy next year committed already. The DB room is crowded with NFL talent. It's good to be DBU.

Well Mr “I have a subscription to 247, heres 2 quotes from their director of football recruiting, Steve Wiltfong from less than a week ago saying otherwise. quote: "It depends on who you talk to," he added. "I talk to some people who say Alabama and Nick Saban are not going to let him get away. Then I talk to other people who say keep an eye on LSU, and they may lead this thing for McKinstry. quote: "I think LSU has put themselves in a really strong position here with what they have done in developing players at the position and the relationship they have with the staff,"

Sounds good baw but I would literally feel confident enough to bet my house and sleep like a baby til singing day that we don’t land him.

LSU currently has 7 if you include KVJ.

Current scholarship CB:
Elias Ricks, Dwight McGlothern, Jay Ward
Derek Stingley Jr., Cordale Flott, Raydarious Jones
One guy I think is a walkon: Lloyd Cole
The only KVJ I see is Kary Vincent who is listed as a safety on the roster. The Nickel can be a safety or corner both in college and the Pros. KV Jr lined up as a deep safety when he was not in the nickel. He is a Safety at LSU.
Ideally, LSU would get a couple CB each year. This should help avoid years like last year when we signed 4 CB just to have anyone to put on the field.
I don't expect a 5* every year, but usually we are at least considered seriously by several top 10 CB. The original poster was simply shocked that when he looked at the top 10, he did not see any crystal balls at all for LSU.

This post is good, add that to the fact that the coaches feel Raydar Jones is more talented than both Flott and Ward, then you get where we’re really stacked for a while.

The outlook is good we have a roster full of young studs. Have you lost confidence in our staffs ability to Identify and bring in talent. We are loaded for bear this is DBU and we will continue to recruit studs. We are not in dire need for help just because you failed to realize that.

You should be happy about this. LSU will get Sage Ryan that's an elite DB right there. That said, they're not pressing for CBs because it's not a need. It also tells you they're not pressing for any major CBs not because none want to come here...because we're not recruiting any hard. That tells you that LSU is very comfortable with all their young DBs and don't expect any to attrition right now. That's a good sign they're developing into what we thought they'd be.

Why in the hell would anyone question probably the best university this past decade in recruiting DBs? Why in the hell would anyone question Raymond's evaluations?

Thanks man

Raydar Jones

He’s my dark horse. I actually think it will be:

CB1- Stingley
CB2 - Radar
Nickel - Flott
FS - Vincent Jr.

That would give us so much depth (and make it impossible for a ‘21 Freshman to even think about the field) for 2 years. If that works out and we sign the top CB next year, it would be phenomenal.

If y'all think Ricks is sitting on the bench this year or barely a reserve you're going to get surprised.

Sage Ryan is a Top5 CB on rivals & #1 Safety on 247. This 100% invalidates the OP
