Pitcher from Zachery, I think. Hes sposed to be drafted pretty early in the MLB draft. Never knew he played football.

if he signed a baseball schollie then he cannot play football without it taking a football schollie, so i doubt he will play football. and he would no longer be on schollie for baseball.
also, i am not sure of the rule but if you sign a schollie to another sport besides football, there is a 3 year rule, i think the rule is you cannot play football for 3 years w/o it taking a football schollie or it could be you cant play football for 3 years, not sure which.

Unfortunatley he will probably be a no-sport athlete at LSU.I talked to some of his peeps the other day he is being told by MLB that he is first round material. He really wants to play college baseball but money talks.Maybe the economy will affect signing bonuses in a good way for us.

the kid plays for zachary and has won a championship in his fr. , so., and his jr. year. he's a killer on the mound.

he has made it known that he would attend lsu no matter where hes drafted.that might lower his draft status.

i live in zachary and have kids that go to zachary h.s. and they and everyone i talk to say he will not go pro and will play for lsu. whoever said he is pro lsu is correct. i would be very supprised if he didn't go to lsu.

So, how did Jeremy Witten do it? He was the punter and started for the baseball team, and I thought that he was on Bball scholarship. Could be wrong there on the scholly, but he definately played both sports, primarily baseball. From what I've been told by folks who've watched VonRosenburg play football, he's one hell of a punter. Of course, he will be here first and foremost as a pitcher.
Chad Jones and J Mitch are both Football signees playing baseball, FWIW. I would like to see the exact wording of the rule regarding two sport athletes. The rule was out in place to keep universities from signing a bunch of football players to other sports to get around the scholarship limitations. But, in cases like this where football is clearly the secondary sport for the player, that rule is BS.

he counted against the 85 football scholarships, just like Von Rosenburg would.

saying that football is clearly the second sport would open up the rule for interpretation, which would cause a need for a ruling on a case by case basis. The NCAA does not have the time to deal with amount of fraud that would go on with that, so the blanket rule serves its purpose very well, and everyone is well aware of the rule, so no, it isn't bullshite.

Jackson was starting 3rd base and punter for Natl Champ team! I think he dropped baseball after his Soph year?
