Really, why not? 9 of those are EE's already on campus
How can you back-count 9 players after signing 18 last year? Just because a player enrolls early does not mean he is automatically back-counted.

If USCw looses their appeal, this class will be a mess. There could be 8+ guys hung out to dry if the NCAA refuses to grant USCw any relief and you are forced to only bring in 15 guys in August.

If the appeal is lost and you have 7-8 guys back count along with 15 scholarships available in August, that leaves 8+ guys having to grey-shirt or find another school with room over the summer. I hope these kids understand the situation and aren't being lied to by Kiff & Co.

I keep hearing you USCw guys say that you will just delay the sanctions for a year but I have never heard of a school being allowed to delay the scholarship portion of the sanctions for a year but still have the bowl ban for that same season. The whole point of the sanctions is for it to be a punishment for cheating. I find it hard to believe the NCAA will allow USCw to load up on players this year to lessen the punishment.

It is all legit. Yes, if the appeal of schollies is not rediced, we may have to cut some players, gray shirt, etc.

It is amazing that USC would oversign recruits while waiting for the NCAA to review their appeal. A slap in the face to the NCAA. This is going to get even more interesting when the NCAA slaps back.

They did not over sign. Had 9 EE's, which count toward last year.

Half Monty has put his head coaching career at USC on this 1 class. If the appeal is accepted they're obviously in much better shape, but the next few years will be a struggle with numbers.

If the appeal is denied, this class beterr be a homerun for production cause if not, Kiffin is done with no way to rebound.

USC loses 30 scholarships over a 3 year period. So it's not necessary that they get it down to 15 if the appeal fails (and it will).

But what it does mean is if they are indeed about 8-9 players above the 15 this year, then they will be reduced to an average of only 11 players in 2012 and 2013 recruiting classes, on average. That's a pretty stupid way of recruiting when you could have just taken the best 15 players (all 4 and 5 star) this year, and done likewise the next 2 seasons.

Like I said, he has put all his eggs in this basket it seems.

He may not be good enough to renew his contract if he only brings in 15 each year. My guess is he is recruiting for a quick renewal.

Actually I had this all wrong.

The only hard number it appears the Trojans are handcuffed with is 75. That being the total number of players that can be on USC's roster for the 2011, 2012 and 2013 season. Thus, 30 scholarships that they won't have over that 2 year span (everybody else gets 85 per year).

Here's the rub. The USC roster was already trimmed down to just 73 coming into the 2010 season (due to a low signing class of 17 in 2010 and some attrition and guys being pushed out the door I am sure.....great work Kiffin). So in essence, they aren't working with much different constraints than any other school these 3 recruiting seasons (2011, 2012, 2013).

But with the 29 recruits for 2011, he has put himself in a hole. USC only has 16 seniors, so the 73 number comes down to only 57. Add 29, and that gives you 86, 11 over the limit due to sanctions. So 11 players either need to declare for the NFL, transfer, quit or current recruits NOT be given a scholarship they were promised.

Good luck Kiffin. You're such a douche.

I love how some of you act like you know what is actually going on.

Let me ask you do you work for the NCAA, how do you know all this? Truth is SC has worked with the NCAA on what they can and cannot do. All of you are so hung up on kiffin does this and that. He's not in charge. Pat Haden and John McKay are, they are the ones that advise Kiff and the staff on what to do. If the appeal is denied we will have a small class next year.

attrition, guys leaving, injuries who will take a medical redshirt will take care of a lot, just like it does with others. Jeez, I have never seen so many people upset at a great class at USC. It's not like they don't have a stellar class year in and year out. Did you all expect Kif and co. to take 15-20 recruits because of "pending" sanctions? He's got to load up NOW.

I didn't realize the OC register is "our people." Do they know exactly what we are doing or what the NCAA has allowed us to.

I have to laugh at SEC fans yapping about SC over signing ..... SC is not ever going to be as good as they were under Sneaky Pete. Kiff is a horrible coach.

People just can't seem to grasp this concept. They are loading up now b/c they can. Once the appeal is denied, they will be stuck with small classes for the next three years.

I bet USC loses 3 games this year

And fire Kid Kiffen after next season

They suck as long as he and O are leading that program

Character matters and they have little character

that's how i see it, that's how I call it
